Chickenfoot – Best + Live

[nyrating]

Decisions of record companies do not always make sense. Take this release for instance. Chickenfoot has only released two studio albums and a live album, so this new best of and live double album doesn’t make much sense to me.

The selection on the best of is pretty much spot on, and the live recordings show just how great a live band we are dealing with here. But, do we really need this at this early point of their existence considering their back catalogue?

This release is for most parts only appealing for new fans who still haven’t discovered the brilliance of this exciting blues infused hard rock unit. If you already own their other releases, there’s one new song, ‘Divine Termination,’ and three live cover-versions of ‘Highway Star’ (Deep Purple), ‘Bad Motor Scooter’ (Montrose), and ‘My Generation’ (The Who) that make this worth looking into.

However, if you are looking for a formal introduction to Chickenfoot, then look no further, because this offers you everything you need to know about them!

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
