The arrogance of a few, the dishonesty of many.
Wishes for 2009 | |
Personally, to fill in the gaps of my essential albums collection, most notably King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Cathedral, AC/DC, Ayreon, Pestilence, Trouble and Solitude Aeternus. Also to see the following bands (and more) perform live: Mortal Sin, Ace Frehley, Cynic, Daemonia.

I totally agree with Renier: Reviewers, who put new releases on the internet – a big f..k to you all, you are the reason we get those fu..ing voiceovers. Paradox cancelling at HOA at the last moment. Fanatics of all kinds – you make the world a less nicer place to be – think for yourself for a change, and don’t impose the values of your religion in any form on others. My band cracking up at the end of the year, due to reasons beyond my control – DAMN! Stress and hassle in my life…
Biggest experience in 2008
Getting started to play drums again after a more than three year break. My kids growing up…
Wishes for 2009 | |
Making a new band work and playing live. Getting rid of most of the hassle and stress in my life. More time to write for the page. Seeing Paradox on HOA in 2009 (as they promised) and of course also Vicious Rumors, Q5, Helstar and Razor – it’s gonna be fun!

We lost one of my favourite vocalists: Mike Baker, Shadow Gallery this year, and way too early. Rest in Peace. Steelheart’s comeback album; what a desaster! Another miserable season for San Francisco 49ers
Wishes for 2009 | |
As many trophies for Manchester United as possible… and the rise of San Francisco 49ers! Great new albums from Pain of Salvation, Nevermore, Jag Panzer and Nightwish. Forbidden releasing a new and awesome album.

Things you could have been without in 2008
In metal: trashy black-metal or metal in general brought to this sick world; much newly released metal lacks passion 🙁
Wishes for 2009 | |
Better bigger releases (didn’t get too overwhelmed by Satyricon’s The Age of Nero, it was too anonymous, I think ), more time and chances to practise and perform musically, more quality INTERNET! time and less passive surfing, even more peace and love. In other words: a LOT of work for me!

The dreadful mastering of Death Magnetic The death of Shadow Gallery’s Mike Baker The financial crisis (i.e. having to downsize my stereo)
Wishes for 2009 | |
Actually finding the time to go to a live concert. That Joe Satriani’s “Chickenfoot” project with Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar will come to fruition and turn out to be all one could wish for. That Blindstone will get the recognition they deserve. A new Pain of Salvation album rivaling Remedy Lane. An upswing (i.e. funds for a new and even bigger stereo!)

The new Metallica record – Much better than Saint Wancker, but still not good enough. The new record is a clone of all their earlier work, without any new ideas and inspiration. Reviewers, who put new releases on the internet – a big f..k to you all, you are the reason we get those fu..ing voiceovers.
Wishes for 2009 | |
I hope record companies will keep sending us promos instead of mailing a link to download the new songs as Mp3. A real winter with lots of ice-skating and snow. Health to all those who I love and like. A sunny day on June 13th A good metal year, with lots of good music.
