Borealis – World of Silence MMXVII

[nyrating]

Some re-releases makes sense, some to a certain degree and some no sense at all. I am not so sure in which category “World of Silence MMXVII” falls into… But it seems like a popular trend these days to either re-mix, re-master or re-record old albums or a combination of all three.

In this case they’ve decided to re-record the whole thing and being unfamiliar with the original, released in 2008, I can’t compare the two. But this album shows a promising band from Canada treading their first steps into the world of Melodic Power Metal with a slight progressive edge.

The result is a solid and interesting effort, with many fine songs and ideas – sure it doesn’t quite sound as complete and as tight as their other two releases. But if you have been searching high and low for this particular album then do grab it now, others might consider if you really need this one in your collection…?

Best moments: “Forget the Past”, “The Afterlife” and “The Dawning Light”.

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
