The Defiants – The Defiants

[nyrating]

What does Bruno Ravel, Rob Marcello and Paul Laine have in common…? Danger Danger! Main songwriter Bruno Ravel, lead guitarist Rob Marcello and former lead vocalist Paul Laine have been brought together once more by Frontiers Music’s head honcho Serafino Perugino, and the result is an outstanding hard rock album that brings you back to the heydays of melodic rock, back when all you heard on the radio was bands like Warrant, White Lion, Bon Jovi, Slaughter, Danger Danger and so many others…

Had this album been released in the late 80s then I am sure we would have looked back at it as a hard rock classic. This album oozes of all the things that made that scene so great and cherished. Marvellous hooks, great easy sing-along choruses, blistering guitar leads, a solid rhythm section and a vocalist, who is front and centre of all attention. And Paul Laine sings all the competition to pieces – simply amazing performance from him on “The Defiants”.

The Defiants sets the bar very high for acts to follow this year, with this amazing hard rock jewel. One of the best hard rock releases in the past five years, if not the best!

Still in doubt, put on “Lil’ Miss Rock ‘n’ Roll”, “Take Me Back” or “That’s When I’ll Stop Loving You”, hell any of the eleven track will do the trick!

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
