“For Crying Out Loud” is yet another trip back memory lane, back to the late 80s, early 90s – when the name of the game was melodic rock and glam rock. In the days before an ugly meteorite from Seattle called grunge came down on earth and destroyed everything pretty and nice.
Shiraz Lane hails from Scandinavia, more precisely from Vantaa, Finland and they are heavily influenced by bands like Skid Row, Warrant and Slaughter, as well as classic hard rock like Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses. Catchy hooks, a solid rhythm section, screaming guitar licks and leads and a high pitched vocalist is what’s on offer… and by high I mean really, really high – not something for everyone. And even though Hannes Kett masters the high pitched very well, he does quickly get on your nerves.
A somewhat mediocre experienced if you ask me. The vocals are a matter of taste, personally I think a little diversity would have made this album much better. If you are into the bands mentioned above then I suggest you give this album a chance.
Btw. how do bands come up with names? I mean Shiraz Lane from Finland… Vodka Katu would have been more appropriate. Shiraz, the Australian term for the French Syrah grape, is not something I associate with the land of a thousand lakes.
