Flying Colors debuted in 2012 with their self titled album, intensive touring followed and a live album “Live in Europe” followed in 2013. Sophomore album “Second Nature” came in 2014, more touring came together and one of the shows was captured for those, who were unable to see them perform live on stage.
“Second Flight: Live at Z7” was shot in the legendary rock club in Pratteln, Switzerland and no expenses were spared to create a masterful movie of the show. Dark Energy technology was used to shoot the show, using 24 cameras, and the release comes in Ultra-HD, 5.1 surround, on triple vinyl set, double CD, DVD and Blu-Ray.
The set list leaves nothing to be desired for – but with only two albums to choose from, how could it go wrong? The band is excellent on stage, the show is fun to watch and this is off-course a mandatory purchase if you are a fan of the band.
But do we really need a live album after each studio album, is it necessary? Even though this is a great release and it offers true value for your money, I am not totally convinced all fans will rush out to buy, yet another live release (not if they already have “Live in Europe”).
Isolated speaking this is one the most impressive live releases in 2015 and I can only recommend you get it if you like Flying Colors.
