After albums of Angelus Apatrida, Raze and Phobos Preacher yet another release of a Spanish thrash band. I was not familiar with this band, but they already started in 2008 and this is their third album. First under the name Crysys, but Sony forced them to change the name because it was almost similar to the videogame: Crysis….
The first album was heavily influenced by eighties thrash, but on this third album there are more modern influences as well. At first I had to get used to the rather shouting kind of vocals of Juli Sanchez, still he is not my favorite singer, but I can deal with it. In a lot of songs the typical Bay Area choirs compensate this demerit. In several songs I hear influences of Exodus, but also more modern Arch Enemy riffing. “Five As One” is one of the groovier and a bit punky track in which the band shows some variety. Fans of modern thrash bands like Municipal Waste and Gama Bomb will also like this band.
Conclusion is that this is nothing new, but just a nice thrash album you don’t have to be ashamed of adding to your collection.
