Alter Bridge – The Last Hero

[nyrating]

Mark Tremonti is a workaholic and what he produces is always first class. From early days in Creed to Alter Bridge as well as his solo albums, he has always been able to write hard rock of the highest calibre. And he’s no slouch… from 2002 when the first Creed album was released he’s been in the drivers seat on 3 more Creed albums, 3 solo albums (“Dust” his latest was release in April this year) and 5 Alter Bridge albums.

He sets the pace and direction on every release and I am a big fan of his. His guitar style takes the best from two worlds: hard rock and heavy metal and bring them together in little rock anthems. His signature sound and style is unique and the harder and heavier riffs go hand-in-hand with the finer more delicate and catchy melodic riffs, and he does it like no other guitarist.

“The Last Hero” is once more the perfect combination of the two worlds, and the sound and songs do trace back to both his solo efforts as well as earlier Alter Bridge albums. Thirteen songs on offer this time, and there something for everyone once more…

Myles Kennedy sings as great as always, the rhythm section is tight and the production is very good. All-in-all you get a great injection of hard rock with a heavy edge. “The Last Hero” is a mandatory purchase for fans of American hard rock…

Well done!

Best moments: “The Writing On the Walls”, “Cradle to the Grave”, “You Will Be Remembered” and “Island of Fools”.

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
