Gama Bomb – Untouchable Glory

A thrash album inspired by vintage kung fu movies, isn’t that cool? Well, I don’t know, but I was surprised that this band from Northern Ireland already exists since 2002. It almost seems like yesterday that I first got familiar with the band, and suddenly I realize that time flies and I’m getting old.

Anyway, back to the music on this album. You can listen to twelve songs for 31 minutes. Shredding guitars, tight riffs, full speed drumming and like I said with very ‘interesting’ lyrics. After a song of five, other things catch my attention besides the music. That isn’t very positive of course. It isn’t that the music is bad, but the songs are all a bit the same. All executed well and with musical influences of bands like Overkill, Exodus and Anthrax , not that bad. The riffs are edgy and galopping like a horse in a meadow, just the way I like it.

There is no song that really sticks out and that is perhaps the problem I have with this album. It is good, but there are a lot of other thrash bands that do about the same or better. The excellent production also is in big favor of my rating.

Nice album, but not a real strike.

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
