Enuff Z’nuff or should I say Donnie Vie and Chip Z’nuff have much to my surprise been releasing albums on a regular basis for more than 30 years since their formation in 1984. Vie has now left the ship but Chip soldier on and “Clowns Lounge” is studio album number fourteen.
To be honest I lost track of them after the first three albums, all released a long time ago and especially “Strength” stands out as a very strong hard rock release, so it was with an almost clean slate I put on this new album. And much to my surprise this still sounds and feels like Enuff Z’nuff of ol’.
Don’t get me wrong the sound is modern and up-to-date, but the approach to things and the attitude are pretty much like they were so many years ago. They are staying true their roots and have not forgotten how to write classic hard rock like some did in the late 1980’s.
I can’t say whether or not this is one of their best albums, but it surely fall nicely in line with the three I know. And it’s a real pleasure to re-discover this old hard rock band…
Fine release for fans of American Hard Rock.
