The underground thrash band Darkness from the Ruhr Area are back with a new album. Real die -hard old school thrash fans will know classic albums like ‘Death Squad’ (1987) and ‘Defenders of Justice'(1988).
The band doesn’t claim to walk any new paths on this album and I can underline that. From start to finish this is eighties sounding thrash in the vein of early Kreator, Destruction and Slayer. In the late eighties they didn’t get the same response as the 3 bands I just mentioned and I think that will not change. The music is just too average for that and that isn’t a problem for me, but after a few spins I find it enough.
This is just old school thrash the way it was invented, no more and no less. Stuff to check out for the old school thrash fan.
