Punk veterans CHELSEA have announced dates to celebrate their 40th anniversary and to promote their upcoming 3 ‘ANTHOLOGY’ Box set releases on Westworld Recordings .
Chelsea were formed in 1976 after vocalist Gene October had advertised his ambition to form a Punk band. A month later they had already made their live debut. Their touring activities included support slots for The Clash and The Police. Chelsea had split-up and reformed a few times before with the line-up having its degree of instability.
The ‘Anthology’ Box-sets will contain the following:
Anthology Vol. 1
“Anthology Vol.1” includes three classic albums “Chelsea” (1979), “Alternative Hits” (1980) and “Evacuate” (1982). This era produced some of the bands most iconic work to date, releasing multiple charting singles including “Right to Work”, Chelsea’s debut single which was included in Mojo magazine’s list of the best punk rock singles of all time.
Anthology Vol. 2
“Anthology Vol. 2” includes three more classics “Original Sinners” (1985), “Rocks Off” (1986) and “Underwraps” (1989). By the early 1980’s Chelsea had already etched their names into punk history by hitting the indie charts multiple times and performing alongside bands such as The Clash, Specials, The Fall, The Police and The UK Subs.
Anthology Vol. 3
“Anthology Vol. 3” includes another hat trick of winners “The Alternative” (1993), “Traitors Gate” (1994) and “Faster Cheaper And Better Looking” (2005). This triple CD set is the third installment of a three-part anthology that includes the bands most highly regarded and iconic work to date. It is an absolute must have for fans of the band and fans of the punk genre in general. 2016 marks 40 years since Chelsea formed, proof that they have stood the test of time and that great punk never dies.
Chelsea’s tour kicks off in Brighton on April 22, 2016 on the first leg of a massive European jaunt. More dates should be announced soon.
