New MORE album nearing completion! – Power Of Metal.dk
NWOBHM pioneers MORE have told The Power Of Metal Webzine that a new album is currently being recorded. This will be the band’s 1st album in over 30 years.
MORE was formed by guitarist Kenny Cox in 1979. In 1981, the band released its debut album “Warhead”, which also had ex-Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Mario Day in the band. With a change in line-up, another album “Blood & Thunder” followed just a few months later but the reaction to the album didn’t match the band’s expectations and the band soon split up.
In 2012, the band reformed under the name MORE2012 and although the band’s return was warmly welcomed, a new album failed to materialise. Until now. We asked band vocalist Mike Freeland (Praying Mantis, Dangerous Breed) for more information:
What is the line-up of musicians involved in the album?
Mike Freeland: vocals
Chris Tsangarides: guitars
Dave John Ross: guitars
Baz Nicholls: Bass
Steve Rix: Drums
.
How would you describe the general mood of the band right now?
Buoyant and excited, looking forward to the release of album and tour. It’s really quite busy as new song ideas are constantly coming to light as we record the written ones.
.
How did this album materialise?
Basically due to fans and punters at gigs asking if there was any new material in the pipeline. It’ll be the first new album in 34 years it looks like it’s going to be a blinder!!
What do the songs sound like?
Classic NWOBHM with some modern touches. Two of the songs were written during the last reformation of More in 2000 featuring Kenny Cox. ‘Scream’ is one of the songs and always goes down well with the crowd every time it’s played live. Of course it is a heavy album…very raw and in your face.
.
Are there any specific plans once the recording is ready, such as releasing the album and performing the songs live?
We go off to Europe in December touring with Bonfire and on our own. The two songs written in 2000 have already been gigged but we will be trying out a few others live. We’re aiming to have the album ready for release by the end of the year.
