“Dust” is the conclusion of the trilogy The Enid began with “Journey’s End” in 2010, and continued on “Invicta” in 2012. As some of you might know this could be the last The Enid album with only remaining founding member Robert John Godfrey, because he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and will eventually leave the band.
I have never really gotten into this band, but do respect their history and importance for today’s progressive rock scene. They are a very visual and theatrical band, and you always get the feeling that you are listening to a soundtrack for short film when you put on a new The Enid album.
The vibrant and colourful sound is as current today as it was in 1973 when it all began. Put on your headphones and dive into the wonderful symphonic soundscapes created for us. They have actually created a visual realization of this album, which they will take on the road, so go see them if they come your way.
“Dust” is the perfect conclusion to the story, and is exactly what you would like from them at this stage of their career. They have not won me over this time either, but don’t hold that against them… give it a listen.
