Michael Bolton – Songs of Cinema

A Michael Bolton review on Powerofmetal.dk might not be the most obvious of things, but as it happens this new album is released by Frontiers Records S.r.l., so we received it… and here goes nothing!

As the album title gives away, all the songs are from film music from movies like The Bodyguard, Stand by Me, Ray, Risky Business, The Wizard of Oz and Casablanca. Musically it is quite remote from our normal sound universe, and I am not sure many of our regular readers will even bother to read this review.

But should you or your girl-/boyfriend have a soft spot for soft rock and Michael Bolton then this might be of interest to you. I won’t pass judgement on this release, since it’s simply too far from our core audiences preferences… so make your own call on this release.

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.

  1. Best metal release of 2017 so far. Bit disappointed there wasn’t at least an attempted review at a few of the songs, or an overall impression.
