First Signal – One Step Over the Line

First Signal is one of the many constellations set up by Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino. Over the years we’ve seen many projects brought together by Perugino, some with great result, others with a more mediocre result.

While the first First Signal album was a collaboration between Harry Hess (Harem Scarem) and producer Dennis Ward, on this new second album “One Step Over the Line”, Harry Hess is working together with Swedish producer Daniel Flores (Find Me, Murder of My Sweet etc.).

Just like it was the case with the debut album they are going back and are trying to re-create the vibe and spirit of the first couple of Harem Scarem albums; first class melodic rock. This time a few AOR and Arena Rock influences have also been integrated into the sound.

Harry Hess is a very gifted vocalist and Daniel Flores is one of the brightest up-and-coming producers in melodic rock, and together they have created a solid piece of music. While the template is beginning to be a bit watered out, it’s still well written and well produced melodic rock.

Another fine project from Frontiers Records and one worth checking out if you are into melodic rock and Harry and Daniel’s other bands.

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
