Derdian – Revolution Era

Derdian is a typical Italian symphonic power metal band with Rhapsody as main influence. There are many bands that sound a bit the same and I can not say that Derdian has anything original in their music, which makes them different from the lot. They started in 1998 and have recorded 5 albums so far. This ‘Revolution Era’ is a compilation of what they think are their best songs from their three ‘New Era’ albums. All songs are re-recorded and re-arranged.

What’s also different is the participation of several known metal singers. Ralph Scheepers, D.C. Cooper, Fabio Lione, Henning Basse and Apollo Papathanasio are the most famous ones. For fans of the band there is only one new track “Cage Of Light”. I don’t know if that is enough for them to purchase this new record, perhaps they are going to buy it to find out how the old songs sound with a different singer. For power metal fans who are not familiar yet with Derdian, this might be the ideal album to get acquainted.

Because this is a kind of best of album, no rating!

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
