Denominate – Those Who Beheld the End

[nyrating]

The first full length album of Finnish technical death metal band Denominate is a piece that will be liked by a lot I think. After their 2014 EP ‘Realms Of Concfusion’ this is again a step forward. The style did not change a lot, but the sound and the production/mix is better.

Ville Männikkö has a variable grunting style, from very  low to mid range. The style of the songs is a kind of mix of Death, Morbid Angel, Carcass and a bit Atheist (some progressive bass parts). Good heavy riffs, fast technical guitar solos, blast beating parts, interesting bass lines and some fine melodies, everything is there. Perhaps not something new, but executed very good by excellent musicians. If you ask any death metal fan to make a top 10 of death metal bands, I almost know for sure that Death, Morbid Angel and Carcass will be in many lists. How can a mix of those three be not good then?

Kudos from me!

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
