Update: MEARFEST

Mearfest4

Next Saturday 13th sees the 4th edition of Mearfest hit the stage of London’s ‘Borderline’. The festival was conceived by Brian and Claire Mear and will be raising funds for The Willows Support Group, a charity organisation which provides assistance and facilities for the families of still-born babies.

You can read about the Mears’ own experiences in this regards here.

Brian Mear told The Power of Metal Webzine: “The gig means so much to me and Claire because it’s in Memory of our daughter Molly who died full term and still born. (Her story has been written by my wife Claire on Mearfest.com)”

When asked what he thought about the bands playing at Mearfest on August 13th, this is what Brian had to say:

“A strange combination you might think Old School Metal and Still born babies but its struck a chord with the whole NWOBHM community and beyond.

The line up.
Desolation Angels – a band I saw regularly in my youth. I recontracted them just after the first Garage Dayz gig just over a year ago. I’m delighted they are playing.

The Deep  I saw these also at the Garage Days Gig 2015. Tony’s voice is truely amazing in everyway! Brilliant musicianship and with that underlying melody i love.

Sacrilige Another “Classic” NWOBHM band that I hadn’t seen before arranging Mearfest. I’m very pleased to say that live they are quite outstanding!!! Bill Bradley the singer has been very supportive throughout to both of us and we feel the band are all close friends now as are all the others!

Troyen  The one band neither of us have seen prior to Mearfest. A classic band once again who played over300 Gigs in the early eighties but never got a decent break in the music industry. I’m particularly looking forward to “Syrian Lady”

Kaine  Young NWOBHM Revivalists. Absolutely superb band and I am hoping out of all the bands playing that these will get the most out of Mearfest. Young, exciting and incredibly talented they sound like an early Iron Maiden. “The Waystone” is a fantastic album. Look out for new track “Walls of Jericho” and if it’s not the best thing you’ve ever heard from an unsigned band ill be amazed.

Not fit for Humans The only band that don’t fit into the NWOBHM bill.  I started Mearfest 6years ago when I lost my Mum. I put on a three day out door festival with 14 bands . The whole thing cost me £34.20 to put on! Not Fit for Humans played their first ever gig there and have played every Mearfest since. As I am going into a mainly NWOBHM festival now I wanted them to link the past to the present.”

The doors of The Borderline open for Mearfest at 17.00 and entrance is just £10.
