The origins of SERPENTINE DOMINION can be traced back to 2009’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which boasted a line-up that included Killswitch Engage, Cannibal Corpse, and The Black Dahlia Murder. During that fateful summer, Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz made a proposition to Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher: “George, I want to write you a record.” On the Mayhem Fest tour, Shannon Lucas, who performed with The Black Dahlia Murder through 2012, was tapped to record drums on the album. Between 2009 and 2016, Cannibal Corpse and Killswitch Engage released three albums each, so scheduling time to work on Serpentine Dominion was no easy feat – but when their rigorous schedules allowed, ‘Serpentine Dominion‘ began to come together, with Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach penning the lyrics, which touch on corruption within the government, religion, big business, and other timely issues. Ultimately, though, this debut is a pure passion project; it was written and recorded simply for why musicians get into music in the first place: fun.

Die Anfänge von SERPENTINE DOMINION können bis zum 2009er Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival zurückverfolgt werden, dort befanden sich unter anderem Killswitch Engage, Cannibal Corpse und The Black Dahlia Murder im Line-Up. Während jenes schicksalhaften Sommers machte Killswitch Engage Gitarrist Adam Dutkiewicz dem Cannibal Corpse Sänger George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher das folgende Angebot: “George, ich möchte Dir ein Album schreiben!“. Auch auf dieser Tour wurde Shannon Lucas, welcher bis 2012 bei The Black Dahlia Murder tätig gewesen ist, für den Posten des Schlagzeugers auserkoren. Zwischen 2009 und 2016 haben sowohl Cannibal Corpse als auch Killswitch Engage jeweils drei Alben veröffentlicht, weshalb die Arbeit an SERPENTINE DOMINION keine einfache Aufgabe war. Sobald es ihre erbarmungslosen Schedules aber erlaubt haben, wurde am Debütalbum ‘Serpentine Dominion‘ gearbeitet, wobei sich Killswitch Engage Sänger Jesse Leach für die Texte verantwortlich zeichnet, die an Themen unter anderem Korruption innerhalb der Regierung, Religion, bis business und andere zeitgemäße Themen behandeln. Obwohl dieses Debütalbum das pure Resultat endloser Leidenschaft ist, wurde es in erster Linie aus den Gründen geschrieben und aufgenommen, wofür Musiker Musik machen: Spaß!
