Metal fans have been waiting for this news for years! After a 9-year hiatus, the biggest indoor metal festival in Eastern Europe – Metalmania, comes back to life! The 23rd edition of this iconic festival will be held on April, 22nd 2017 in Spodek Hall, Katowice (Poland). Tickets go on sale on November, 14th.

Moonspell, Sodom, Arcturus, Tygers of Pan Tang and Furia have been announced so far. Today, we can reveal names of two new bands added to the line-up: Coroner and Obscure Sphinx. More bands to be announced soon!

Coroner is one of the most respected and innovative bands of the mainstream technical thrash metal. Their music combines elements of thrash, classical music, avant-garde music, progressive rock, jazz, and industrial metal with suitably gruff vocals. With their increasingly complex style of progressive rock-infused thrash, they have been called “the Rush of thrash metal”. Formed in 1983, the band broke up in 1996, but reformed 14 years later. Their next studio album is scheduled for release in 2017!

Obscure Sphinx – Polish band formed in Warsaw in 2008. Their music oscillates around post-metal but is heavily enriched with doom metal, post-rock and progressive metal influences. Musicians blend sonic spaces and electronic samples with a crushing combo of 8-string guitars and 6-string bass guitars. When you add unique female vocal the final result is simply stunning. So far they have released two studio albums: “Anaesthetic Inhalation Ritual” (2011), “Void Mother” (2013) and live album “Epitaphs” (September 2016 – the cover artwork was done by Mario Duplantier from Gojira). Obscure Sphinx are scheduled to play on the second stage.

Metalmania – it will be one of the most important musical events of 2017, a real treat for metal maniacs worldwide! Metalmania remains true to its formula – one day, two stages, several bands from all around the world and thousands of fans! That’s what Metalmania Festival is all about!

The last edition of Metalmania Festival took place at Spodek Hall in Katowice on March, 8th 2008, with Megadeth, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Overkill and Satyricon on the bill!
