OSLO – Mortiis will offer “Demons are Back,” the third single from the new release The Great Deceiver, as a free download single on April 1.
The download will also include a remix by Marc Urselli, and uncensored version of the video, screensavers, Facebook-ready headers and band photos.
With its hauntingly memorable chorus, “Demons are Back” is one of the album’s most accessible tracks, while also providing an overall narrative for the album. The track’s video shows a grotesquely-masked voyeur watching dystopian scenes of utter despair, sadism and eventually, suicide through an array of TV screens, as his own life ends violently.
“‘Demons are Back’ is that song that just comes about through tinkering and general fuckery, not even taking it too seriously, and voila! The gates are open, and all your hang ups, faults and fears are right there, writhing on the desk in front of you, staring you down,” the band’s namesake said. “It’s almost dangerous in a way.”
Mortiis has made a point of offering The Great Deceiver’s singles to fans free of charge, beginning with “Doppleganger” and “The Shining Lamp of God.”
“We really do appreciate the fans’ support through the years, and this is an easy way for us to give back to them,” said Mortiis. “Also, as a music fan and collector myself, extras and remixes are something I can appreciate.”
The Great Deceiver was released earlier this month via Omnipresence. It is available in CD and highly-limited edition vinyl formats directly through the band’s website at www.mortiis.com.
The band will return to the UK in April for a small warm-up tour, with full tour plans to follow.
