In conjunction with RED Music, Metal Blade Records has launched a new edition of the “6 Bands in 60 Seconds” campaign, where CEO Brian Slagel spotlights six artists from the label’s roster every three months. The goal of the promotion is to help fans discover new music from some of the most promising acts in the scene. Redemption – featuring Nick van Dyk, Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Engine), Sean Andrews, and Chris Quirarte (as well as guitarist Bernie Versailles, who is presently on an indefinite medical hiatus) – released their sixth full-length, The Art of Loss, this past February. Hailed as a “masterpiece” by HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com (5/5), Quiet World (2015) is the debut full-length from progressive metal outfit Native Construct. Written and largely self-produced while the band members were full-time students at the Berklee College of Music, Quiet World saw the group land on the Billboard charts (#56 Hard Music Albums Chart; #85 New Artist Chart) and join the likes of Between the Buried and Me, Enslaved, and more on the road – proving that it is anything but quiet in Native Construct‘s world. Gemeinsam mit RED Music bieten Metal Blade Records eine neue Ausgabe von “6 Bands in 60 Seconds”, in deren Rahmen Label-Oberhaupt Brian Slagel alle drei Monate sechs Acts aus seinem Programm vorstellt. Dadurch sollen Fans die aussichtsreichsten neuen Künstler der Szene kennenlernen. Im April erschien Abnormalitys zweites Album “Mechanisms of Omniscience” – ein “…feuriges, tosendes, galliges Death.Metal-Monster…” (MetalSucks.net). Die Scheibe vereint die unermüdliche Brutalität der Szene von New York und New England mit dem Hyperblast aus Quebec in Kanada, woraus sich ein erbarmungsloser wie leidenschaftlicher Cocktail ergibt. Mother Feather, die gerade die Warped Tour durchziehen veröffentlichten ihr selbstbetiteltes Debüt im Mai: zehn Tracks, die das Kratzige mit dem Eingängigen verbinden, prahlerische wie gefährliche Sounds Marke The Stooges, Blondie und Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Damit einher gehen Verspieltheit Pop-Verständnis und der Übermut des besten Alternative Rock aus den 90ern. Für ihre Leistung, so einzigartigen Rock zu spielen, handelte sich die Band schon gehörigen Medienrummel ein, auch wegen ihrer schrillen Bowie-esken Kostüme und Schminke sowie einer bezaubernden Liveshow. Nach Features auf IFC.com, TeamCoco.com, und HuffingtonPost.com (dort hieß es “eine großartige New Yorker Band in der Tradition großartiger New Yorker Bands“) wurden Mother Feather kürzlich auch vom Metal Hammer zur “Band der Woche” gekürt und von Daniel P.
