Metal Blade Records launches new edition of “6 Bands in 60 Seconds”
In conjunction with RED Music, Metal Blade Records has launched a new edition of the “6 Bands in 60 Seconds” campaign, where CEO Brian Slagel spotlights six artists from the label’s roster every three months. The goal of the promotion is to help fans discover new music from some of the most promising acts in the scene. The latest installment of the series features Abnormality, Exumer, Redemption, Native Construct, Good Tiger, and Mother Feather; to watch the video clip, and to learn more about the artists, please visit: metalblade.com/6bands
This past April, Abnormality released their sophomore full-length, Mechanisms of Omniscience – a “…seething, roaring, fire-breathing death metal beast…” (MetalSucks.net). Marrying the ceaseless brutality coming out of New York and New England to the hyper-blasting intensity endemic to Quebecois death metal, Mechanisms of Omniscience is as unrelenting as it is passionate, and the album tackles real world issues with intelligence and raw emotion. German thrashers Exumer unleashed their fourth full-length, The Raging Rides, earlier this year, with critics declaring it “…a non-stop fist-banger with riffs that cut like razors and vocals that punish hard” (DecibelMagazine.com). A deliberate and violent thrash attack that stays true to the band’s 30 year legacy, The Raging Rides is “…THE yardstick for thrash metal in 2016” (Rock Hard Magazine, Germany). Redemption – featuring Nick van Dyk, Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Engine), Sean Andrews, and Chris Quirarte (as well as guitarist Bernie Versailles, who is presently on an indefinite medical hiatus) – released their sixth full-length, The Art of Loss, this past February. Containing over 70 minutes of their unique blend of passion, melody, aggression and complexity, The Art of Loss also includes special guest appearances from Chris Broderick, John Bush, Marty Friedman, Simone Mularoni and Chris Poland. Hailed as a “masterpiece” by HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com (5/5), Quiet World (2015) is the debut full-length from progressive metal outfit Native Construct. Written and largely self-produced while the band members were full-time students at the Berklee College of Music, Quiet World saw the group land on the Billboard charts (#56 Hard Music Albums Chart; #85 New Artist Chart) and join the likes of Between the Buried and Me, Enslaved, and more on the road – proving that it is anything but quiet in Native Construct‘s world. Featuring former members of Tesseract, The Safety Fire, and Architects UK, Good Tiger released their debut album, A Head Full of Moonlight, digitally in 2015 (after crowd-funding a staggering $45,980!), with the first single, “Where Are The Birds”, being heard on BBC Radio 1. This past April, the band signed with Blacklight Media (the new label formed by Chris Santos – executive chef and managing partner of the New York City restaurants VANDAL, The Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex – together with Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records) to give A Head Full of Moonlight a physical release – which only furthered Good Tiger‘s success in the music world. Currently on the road with the annual Warped Tour, Mother Feather released their self-titled full-length in May, giving fans 10 tracks that marry the scratchy yet catchy, swaggering, and dangerous sounds of The Stooges, Blondie, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the playfulness, pop sensibility, and exuberance of the finest 90s alt-rock. For their efforts, the group has garnered massive buzz for their unique brand of rock, vibrant Bowie-esque costumes and makeup, and enthralling live show. Having previously been featured on IFC.com, TeamCoco.com, and HuffingtonPost.com (who declared them as “a great New York City band in the tradition of Great New York City Bands“), Mother Feather was also recently named “new band of the week” by Metal Hammer, and has received much play on Daniel P. Carter’s Rock Show on BBC Radio 1. For more information, please visit: facebook.com/motherfeather
