Iconic thrash metal band DESTRUCTION are currently working on their new album entitled »Under Attack«. The band started the recording sessions after the summer festivals last year and have been recording segments in various studios between September 2015 and January 2016. So far they have completed the drum recordings with Martin Buchwalter at Gernhart Studios in Germany, as well as completing some basic recordings, mixing and mastering with VO Pulver at Little Greek Studios in Switzerland.
“Under Attack” will be released on May 13 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Band leader Schmier states:
“We really took our time for this album. After the summer festivals we went into the studio every couple of weeks to record brand new songs and ideas in between all the touring activities. We took several studio sessions instead of one long one, to keep the ideas fresh and have time later before the mix to change bits and pieces that we did not like! Maybe this was the most effective writing we did in the last years!
Due the fact we had more time in between the albums there was a lot of musical output and creativity but also less pressure. From my point of view you can definitely hear the crispiness in the songwriting and the kick ass attitude we brought from the shows into the studio. The ‘on tour into the studio on tour mode’ was so effective that I wanna keep this method for the future!
How does the new record sound? For sure not like a band that is in its 33 years of existence: Efficient aggression: FAST – CATCHY – ORIGINAL!”
Die deutschen Thrash-Metal-Ikonen DESTRUCTION arbeiten derzeit an ihrem neuen Studioalbum mit dem Titel »Under Attack«. Die Band startete bereits nach den Sommer-Festivals 2015 mit den Aufnahmen zur neuen Platte. Zwischen September 2015 und Januar 2016 wurden Teile des Albums in verschiedenen Studios aufgenommen. Die Drum-Recordings wurden mit Martin Buchwalter in den Gernhart Studios fertig gestellt. Die restlichen Aufnahmen, so wie Mix und Mastering fanden mit VO Pulver in den “Little Greek Studios” in der Schweiz statt. Produziert wurde das Album von DESTRUCTION selbst.

Bandleader Schmier sagt dazu:
“Wir haben uns bei der neuen Platte richtig Zeit gelassen. Nach den Sommer-Festivals gingen wir alle paar Wochen ins Studio um die brandneuen Songs und Ideen aufzunehmen, die während den ganzen Tour-Aktivitäten entstanden. Anstatt einer langen Studio-Session, nahmen wir die Songs in vielen kleinen Sessions auf – so hielten wir die Ideen frisch und hatten genug Zeit vor dem finalen Mix, kleine Änderungen vorzunehmen. Das war vielleicht das effektivste Songwriting der letzten Jahre.
Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass wir uns mehr Zeit zwischen den Alben liesen, gab es mehr Raum für neue musikalische Ideen und Kreativität – zudem hatten wir viel weniger Druck. Meiner Meinung nach kann man diese frische im Songwriting und die “Kick-Ass-Attitude”, die wir von den Live-Shows mit ins Studio brachten, definitv raushören. Diese “Von der Tour ins Studio und zurück auf Tour”-Methode war so effektiv, dass wir das auch in Zukunft so beibehalten wollen.
Wie die neue Platte klingt? Auf jeden Fall nicht wie die Platte einer Band, die es seit 33 Jahren gibt. Efficient aggression: FAST – CATCHY – ORIGINAL!”
