CRIMINAL announces new album “Fear Itself” for release on March, 11th!

Anglo-Chileans Thrashers CRIMINAL have announced their new album “Fear Itself” for release March, 11th through Metal Blade Records.

Comments CRIMINAL: “Everyone who’s heard the new album agrees that it is our most pissed-off sounding record to date. We didn’t try to make it more brutal, but that’s the way it came out. We just let the metal flow. I think having Sergio in the band has something to do with it, because, as a long time fan of the band, he told us when certain things seemed unnecessary. In fact, all but one of the songs are under four minutes long. Straight to the point, quick and painful.

In terms of style, we didn’t really plan anything, we just wrote the riffs that came to our minds. So there’s a bit of thrash, hardcore and death metal, but also some classic heavy metal. All the stuff that we love put through a blender. And the end result sounds like Criminal. It’s hard to define, but I think a long time ago we created our own sound, and every new album ends up sounding like that.“

Recorded at CRIMINAL bassist Danny Biggin’s HVR Studios in Suffolk, UK, with a “no bullshit” approach to recording, the band purposely avoided the vices of modern metal production such as samples, quantizing and amp simulators.

The striking artwork by renowned Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Mayhem, etc.) perfectly represents the bleak, dystopian atmosphere of the lyrics, which denounce warmongering, misinformation, exploitation and other ills of modern society.

A metal band with a hardcore attitude, CRIMINAL‘s longevity is a testament to their honesty and passion. In it for all the right reasons.

CRIMINAL kündigen neues Album “Fear Itself” zum 11. März an!

Die anglo-chilenischen Thrasher CRIMINAL haben ihr neues Album “Fear Itself” für den 11. März über Metal Blade Records angekündigt.

Das Statement von CRIMINAL dazu: “Alle, die das neue Album schon gehört haben, sind sich einig: so angepisst haben wir noch nie geklungen! Wir legten es nicht darauf an, möglichst brutal zu sein, es ergab sich einfach so. Wir haben den Metal einfach fließenlassen. Es hat bestimmt etwas mit Sergio in der Band zu tun, der uns als langjähriger Fan sagte, wann etwas unnötig war. Tatsächlich sind alle Songs bis auf einen unter vier Minuten lang – direkt auf den Punkt, kurz und schmerzvoll.

Stilistisch war auch nichts Bestimmtes geplant, wir haben einfach Riffs geschrieben, wie sie uns in den Sinn kamen. Demnach gibt ein ein wenig Thrash, Hardcore und Death Metal, aber auch klassischer Heavy Metal Alles, was wir lieben verquirlen wir miteinander, und das Ergebnis klingt nach Criminal. Es ist schwierig zu definieren, aber unser eigener Sound entstand wohl schon vor langer Zeit, und der schlägt sich auf jedem Album nieder.“

Die neue Scheibe wurde unter CRIMINAL-Bassist Danny Biggin in den HVR Studios im britischen Suffolk nach dem Prinzip “kein Firlefanz” aufgenommen, wobei die Band die Fallstricke moderner Metal-Produktionen bewusst mied, als da wären Samples, Quantisierung und Amp-Simulationen.

Das bestechende Artwork des renommierten rumänischen Künstlers Costin Chioreanu (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Mayhem, etc.) verbildlicht die trostlos dystopische Stimmung der Texte perfekt, wobei es um Kriegstreiberei, Falschinformation, Ausbeutung und andere leiden dergegenwärtigen Gesellschaft geht.

CRIMINAL sind eine Metal-Band mit Hardcore-Attitüde und bestätigen mit ihrer Langlebigkeit, wie ehrlich und hingebungsvoll sie sind. Sie machen Musik aus hehren Gründen.
