Despite having released only 3 studio-albums (a 4th one is on the way) and even though global success has been somewhat elusive, the story of Quartz and its members is rich and eventful. The band was formed around 1974 in Birmingham. After having split up in 1983, the quintet reformed in 2011 and the line-up now features almost all their original members.
In the video-interview that follows, Mick Hopkins, Derek Arnold and Malcolm Cope, respectively the band’s guitarist, drummer and bassist, reminisce on their individual and collective pasts while, together with vocalist David Garner and guitarist Geoff Nicholls, the band prepares to take Quartz into a new era.
The video-interview also features some live footage done exclusively to accompany this interview.

A band I met January 1976.Became quite close but lost touch when marriage went SNAFU.Great guys and now back and rocking and still disturbing the ether. Met up Oct 3…great night. Keep on thumping lads.
Good to know the current Quartz compare well to their early incarnation!
Was a fan of Quartz in the mid seventies , great guys and brilliant live , good to see them back again, and Im really looking forward to seeing them at the Sonic rock solstice 2016 festival on 19th June
Indeed the 2016 calendar of Quartz seems to be getting slowly busier. Let’s hope their new album will be out by then.
