\u2018Long Beach 1976\u2019, <\/span><\/b>is part of earMUSIC\u2019s DEEP PURPLE \/ DPO <\/b>reissue series that, over the last couple of years, has seen the release of rare live material from the band, including \u2018Copenhagen 1972\u2019, \u2018Stockholm 1970\u2019, \u2018Paris 1975\u2019, \u2018Graz 1975\u2019 and \u2018Long Beach 1971\u2019<\/b>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 6^{th<\/sup> edition of the DPO series features one of the rare live recordings from Deep Purple MK IV line up<\/b> (Bolin – Coverdale – Hughes – Lord \u2013 Paice). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n}

\u2018Long Beach 1976\u2019 is released as 2CD Digi and 3Vinyl Gatefold on April 29^{th<\/sup> on earMUSIC. <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n}

The show at the Long Beach Arena, California was originally recorded on February 27th for a radio broadcast in the US. The rare recording is completed with three additional live tracks taken <\/b>from a different concert recording from the same tour (Springfield, January 1976)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

DEEP PURPLE MK IV <\/span><\/b>recorded only one album \u2018Come Taste The Band\u2019<\/b> which featured Tommy Bolin\u2019s great songwriting talent on most songs. This was the album promoted through the tour. Although this twelfth DEEP PURPLE <\/b>album never gained the same commercial success as their earlier releases \u201cCome Taste The Band\u201d has gained the status of cult album over the years and it is now a \u201cmust have\u201d in all Deep Purple fan\u00b4s collection. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This relative live document is its perfect pair.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tommy Bolin\u2019s health issues and his sad struggle with drug dependency led DEEP PURPLE <\/b>to split up in July of the same year. The members spread out to develop solo projects like Whitesnake or Paice Ashton Lord. Tragically, Tommy Bolin died only a couple months later of a heroin overdose.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Long Beach 1976\u2019 <\/span><\/b>is a real jewel in a fan\u2019s collection, featuring a very quirky \u201cSmoke On The Water\u201d <\/i>that morphs into a truly great rendition of \u201cGeorgia On My Mind\u201d<\/i>), tracks from \u2018Come Taste A Band\u2019 and a song by Bolin\u2019s solo album \u201cTeaser\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Even in their most tragic and controversial moment, Deep Purple was a true gem we can still enjoy as one of those magic moments from the best era of rock music.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
