I am always a bit proud when a Dutch band delivers such a good album. You perhaps think that I’m chauvinistic here, but I can assure you I’m not. This is just how modern thrash should sound like. Sporadic elements of Bay Area thrash with a modern sound and some slight metalcore influences. A mix of Machine Head, Testament and Arch Enemy is something I read elsewhere and I can underline that.

From start to finish they step on the gaspedal, with some sporadic steps on the brakes. Singer Sean Maia sounds a bit like Chuck Billy using more grunts and growls. He puts quite some variety in his singing which makes it even more interesting. The melodic guitar leads remind of Arch Enemy and the certain groove of Machine Head many times. The most typical (different from the rest) song, is “The Great Divide”. This makes it immediately one of the most interesting ones. Starting as a kind of Faith No More track, the tempo increases to high almost black metal speed to break down again to a Faith No More passage. Also the solo is very interesting, it is very melodic in a kind of King Diamond style.

The combination of styles on this album are mixed so perfectly and interesting, that I think there will not be many bands this year that will make such an interesting album. A lot of thrash bands sound too much Bay Area, or too much German thrash, or too much…. (you can fill in yourself). Not Disquiet, they keep sounding fresh although using many recognizable influences. Just two examples; in the sixth track I even hear Rage influences and parts of “Las ‘Pasi” remind me of Sepultura. What a tight heavy sounding motherfucking thrash attack!

After their debut album “Scars of Undying Grief” this is a huge step forward for them. The first album already delivered them a gig at Wacken Open Air (2012), with this album I have no doubts that a lot more will follow this summer. Below you can hear for yourself how good the riffing sounds!
