<\/a><\/p>\nKrisiun is perhaps the most known death metal band from Brazil at the moment. I for certain had not heard of Burn the Mankind before I received this new CD in the mail. I will save you all the info about the members in the band and what they have done before starting Burn the Mankind. The one thing I will tell you is that this is the brain child of guitarist Marcos Moura (ex-Nephasth).<\/p>\n
The music on the CD is a mix of several styles. I hear Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm, Deicide and some thrash influences. There’s nothing wrong about that, you’d think, but somehow the songs miss something. It sounds brutal, but just not brutal enough. There are the general breakdowns and blastbeating parts, but the riffs are just not strong enough and should have been more in front of the mix. The songs miss a certain groove and the technical guitar parts\u00a0sound a bit average.<\/p>\n
Singer Pedro Webster\u00a0does his\u00a0job, but never sounds very special. I would not\u00a0recognize the band if I just listened to the vocals, there are too many that sound slightly the same. The last two tracks on the album are taken from their 2010 EP, but you hardly hear a difference to the rest of the songs.<\/p>\n
All in all, I think this is a rather nice death metal album, but it could have sounded a bit more brutal, especially the guitars, and another weaker point is that the songs are just too average and do not really stick.<\/p>\n
