"nad_sylvan_400"

Nad Sylvan is probably best known for his contribution on Steve Hackett’s Genesis Revisited project and on Roine Stolt’s side project Agents of Mercy. And now it’s time for his first solo album in twelve years: “Courting the Widow”.

While he is doing most of the stuff on this album on his own, he has called in a few favours from guys like Steve Hackett , Roine Stolt, Nick Beggs, Jonas Reingold and Nick D’Virgilio just to name some of the many guests on the album.

Nad has often been described as a cross between Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel, I would like to add a little Fish to the mix … and the music has some very strong connections to the sound of Genesis as well, taking us back to the early 1970s up to around 1975.

So people, this is not modern prog rock, but fear not, this does not sound dated or old. No, this is a fresh and vibrant sounding progressive rock album with its roots deeply grounded in the dinosaurs era of progressive rock.

This is a solid piece of retro prog rock, and I am sure that fans of Steve Hackett and Genesis will find something to cherish on “Courting the Widow”. It’s not an outstanding album, but solid and absolutely worth checking out …
