OBSIDIAN KINGDOM have released a video portraying a side project of the experimental metal outfit. The Catalans are performing their “Drone Set” featuring Brunetto on “BCNmp7. Metal┬Àl├║rgies”. This clip was recorded at┬áCentre de Cultura Contempor├ánia in Barcelona on the 4th of June 2015, and can be viewed here:┬áwww.youtube.com/watch?v=U1suJ7INalY

The band comments: “Aside from our studio production, we combine our ‘rock band’ aspect with the ‘OBSIDIAN KINGDOM DRONE SET’ effort; an ephemeral live project focused on impromptu and sonic experimentation. Through active listening and an exclusively live approach, we amalgamate drone, noise, ambient music and video projections to display a unique and surrounding audiovisual live experience.

In these sessions, which sporadically take place in little venues or art galleries, the performers rethink their connection with their instruments, deepening their sonic possibilities through an unorthodox use, while supported by the heavy application of pedal effects. All of this is organically entwined with the work of a video artist, who arranges and screens video fragments┬áfrom the other side of the stage, and becomes one more member of our avant-garde jam sessions.”

On further news, OBSIDIAN KINGDOM are announcing a line-up change and will enter studio to record the┬áfollow-up to their debut album┬á’Mantiis’┬áthis summer.

The Catalans comment: “Our sophomore full-length is finally written. We will start recording at Orgone Studios in London with Jaime G├│mez Arellano (PARADISE LOST, PRIMORDIAL, ULVER) as producer before the end of summer; and it will be out on Season of Mist in 2016. We just wanted you to know that we can hardly wait for you to experience our new songs. You will also spot a few different faces in our latest portrait, as recently pictured by the gifted photographer Taya Uddin (Terrorizer). We kindly ask you to give a warm welcome to our new, young and talented members: Seerborn Ape Tot on guitars and Om Rex Orale on bass. You will meet them both in person before soon. Enjoy the last days of summer.”

OBSIDIAN KINGDOM is an independent music project founded in Barcelona in 2005, who self-released their debut album ‘Mantiis ÔÇô An Agony in Fourteen Bites’ in 2012. Season of Mist had a crush on the album and reissued it on the 24th of October 2014.Line-up

OBSIDIAN KINGDOM play hard-to-classify heavy music with plenty of contrasts. Their main features are the use of multiple sound resources in order to portray a wide range of emotions; a deep interest for aesthetics and the mise-en-scène; and the somber and cryptic quality of their lyrical topics. Defying both tradition and their Black Metal origins, OBSIDIAN KINGDOMtread their own path in an untiring search for their own unique style, aside from conventions or style boundaries.
