Samskaras<\/span><\/b>\u00a0was founded by Montreal-based musician Eric Burnet (Derelict<\/b>,\u00a0Unburnt<\/b>) who is joined by drummer Alexandre Dupras, known for his work with\u00a0Teramobil<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Unhuman<\/b>. Their music is built on the melodically dense and technically aggressive style made popular by fellow Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois artists such as\u00a0Gorguts<\/b>,\u00a0Neuraxis<\/b>,\u00a0Quo Vadis<\/b>, and\u00a0Cryptopsy<\/b>. Inspiration is drawn from other far-flung corners of the extreme music spectrum as well, with bands such as\u00a0Wood Of Ypres<\/b>,\u00a0The Faceless<\/b>,\u00a0Nile<\/b>, and\u00a0Enslaved<\/b>\u00a0casting shadows on the compositions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Samskaras\u00a0<\/span><\/b>was launched in 2014 with the release of the singles\u00a0“Red Hill” and\u00a0<\/i>“Consecrate”. Now in 2017, the band has returned with\u00a0Asunder<\/i>, a four-song EP produced at\u00a0The Grid\u00a0<\/b>with Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy<\/b>). \u201cWe challenged ourselves a lot on these songs,\u201d explains Burnet. \u201cWe took chances and tried some things we had never done before.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
