										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fans of <strong>Shadowkeep</strong> had to wait 10 years for the predecessor of <em>The Hourglass Effect. </em>Singer Richie Wicks is no longer there and it is almost a band tradition that there is a new singer in the line up. This time they found James Rivera for the job. No idea how long he will be a member of the band because he is a very busy man. Perhaps we should do a competition on how many different albums and bands James Rivera has been the lead singer! Anyway, with James singing, you always know what to expect. He never lets you down, but there is also always a but&#8230;.</p>
<p>He has such a dominating recognizable voice that a lot of the bands he performs in sound a bit the same. Especially when the band plays U.S. power metal. Shadowkeep has this style and a lot of songs sound a lot like Helstar. Helstar however is one of my favorite bands, so that shouldn&#8217;t be a problem if the songs are strong. That however isn&#8217;t the case. Some songs are above average, but there are too many that just sound average. Sure there are influences of early Queensryche and Crimson Glory as well, but the songwriting is just not strong enough to compete with them.</p>
<p>All in all the album is good and nice to listen to, but I think I am getting a little bit tired of James Rivera&#8217;s voice. Especially his high screeches irritate me a bit. If you haven&#8217;t the same problem, sure check this album out!</p>
