33 years later this 3rd full-length album is being released. With this pace, it will take 66 years after their debut that their 6th album will see the light (or dark!), which can’t be a coincidence! The music has lots of elements of their first 2 albums, only with a better production and more modern sounding. Jeff his voice is as recognizable as always and rasps through all the songs in his typical style. The riffs are razor sharp and the old school thrash/death feeling is a feast for the ears. Sure there will still be people missing that old eighties sound, but we live in 2019 now and production methods are a lot more modern.
After the intro ‘No More Room in Hell’ starts, the song has been on Youtube for a while and will be known by now. Drummer Emilio sounds very tight and the use of the rototoms gives the songs that old school sound. I can’t give you songs that really stick out, just because every track is of a very high quality. ‘Omen’ starts with hell bells and gives me that Seven Churches feeling. If I have to choose a song as one of my favorite, I think I would pick ‘Graven’ today and perhaps ‘Shadowcult’ tomorrow.
Possessed deserves to get the maximum score, and I know there is only one original member left, but who cares!

– new playthrough video for “The Pack” released
The countdown is on for the release of legendary California thrash metal band DEATH ANGEL’s long-awaited 9th full-length album, Humanicide, that’s due on May 31st from Nuclear Blast Records. “When I wrote “The Pack” I was channeling the vibe we exchange with our fans when we’re having a killer show and the crowd is rocking so hard to the music that in that moment we are united as one intense exploding vortex of positive energy! This song is an uplifting dose of metal with a message of hope and unity, an anthem of strength in loyalty. It’s a balancing factor on the Humanicide album which is also filled with so much darkness. It’s dedicated to our fans, all metal and music fans in fact. I absolutely cannot wait to play this song live, especially this summer at open air festivals in Europe. Feels like a song that calls for crowd participation!
It’s a fun song to play because of it’s heavy rhythmic percussive attack. I get to play drums on my guitar! Challenging too, as the background vocals happen in spots where it goes against the grain of what the guitars are doing… also the guitar solo section is quite melodic and takes you into a different dimension before returning to the pulsing heartbeat fist pumping stomp.
This song is raw, no nonsense good time fun. It’s refreshing amongst the dark complexity on the other side of the Death Angel sound.” – Rob Cavestany

Syr Daria (FR) Heavy | Thrash
Syr Daria is a French heavy, thrash group formed at the end of 2007. They recorded and released their first LP entiltled Circus Of Life in 2011 and followed that with a second release in 2016 called Voices. Both records were distributed by Brennus Music.
The band sound is primarily informed by thrash and heavy, although even pop and rock style make an appearance while still remaining groovy and powerful. It’s a wonderful mix of traditional metal that also elevates towards modern musical styles. The groups main musical inspirations include Metallica, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden and Soilwork to name a few. The strongest influences on Syr Daria texts and atmospheres come from the group’s various fields of interest: cinema, contemporary literature, urban legends and simple glances on everyday situations.
Syr Daria are set to release their 3rd album Tears Of A Clown later in year, worldwide, via Sliptrick Records.

]]>Where Inkvisitor’s last full length Dark Arts of Sanguine Rituals featured both new and old band members, the new single Vanguardian introduces completely new Inkvisitor for the first time on record. The new bassist and lead guitarist joined after the recordings of the last full lenght were completed, but now they’re in with a full force. The new single also hints new musical directions for the band, offering both melodies and punishing beatings. Production was handled by Finland’s reowned team of professionals; Tuomas Kokko recording (Swallow the Sun, Ghost Brigade) Nino Laurenne mixing (Wintersun, Lost Society, Battle Beast) and Svante Forsbäck mastering (Rammstein, Lordi, Entombed, Apocalyptica).
“Vanguardian is a clear successor for Dark Arts of Sanguine Rituals, but it also paves the way for the upcoming third album. We have been writing stuff almost enough to fill an album and you can definitely hear the new guys’ input in the songs. We’ve been doing more what we want, rather than what has been concidered canon in thrash. Sure, some die-hard purists are gonna be pissed off, but there’s more to metal than just skankbeat and sixteenth note tremolo picking. And since we now have a band that’s capable of pulling it off, it would be a shame to waste that talent.” The guitarist Jesse Kämäräinen summarises the origins of the song.
Vocalist Markus Martinmäki tells the following about the lyrics and the idea behind the song:
“Many people seem to carry mental swords with them right from the get-go to the bitter end. You can also spot some ironic salutes for the dead.”
Both the music video and the album art were made by the band’s guitarist Jesse Kämäräinen. The aim was to make something different compared to the plethora of dark warehouses present in metal videos.
“The police and the security of Parliament House weren’t too happy about us swinging a prop-katana on their doorstep, but luckily they were forgiving and didn’t taze us.”
After the release the band will tour Finland and focus on finishing writing of the new album. The band estimates that the untitled third album will see the light of day in 2020.
Inkvisitor is a thrash metal band founded in 2012 from Jyväskylä, Finland. The band has released one EP and two full length albums and has toured Finland extensively.

The first single and title track “Humanicide” triumphantly represents the entirety of the album, immediately energizing the listener.
Osegueda remarks:
“I wanted to write something that metal fans could really grasp onto. Something dark and intense, that still makes sense. Right now I think it’s so apparent that the earth is in a sickened state.”
“When I wrote the music for our song “Humanicide,” I was shooting for an album opener that would have all the elements of an epic thrash opus.
This meant a classic metal style intro leading into a ferocious “Bay Area Thrash Riff-o-Rama” complete with a crazy middle build up section to ramp up the circle pit until it’s all whipped up into a frenzy by the time the frenetic guitar solo hits, then concluding with a maniacal musical section leading into the outro.
All it needed was the lyrics and vocal delivery to match the intensity and Mark went above and beyond the call of duty! Some of his best work in my opinion.
One of my favorite DA songs for sure, it feels like the follow up to our song “Thrown to the Wolves”. Can’t wait to play it live!”
– Rob Cavestany

“I’m ecstatic to present Death Angel’s 9th studio album, Humanicide. This collection of songs represents the band in its current state – united, vital, intense and (still) hungry like the wolf! I wanted this record to be quite diverse stylistically while obviously keeping with the parameters of metal. DA has been known to push the envelope and we absolutely did this time. So many emotions expressed through our music, very much looking forward to adding these songs into our live set list. As I savor this rare feeling of satisfaction, we proudly unleash this beast upon thee!”

]]>The End of Chaos has lots of fast and thrashy sounding songs, the production of Jacob Hansen is modern and perfectly balanced. Eric A.K. is one of the best singers in the metal scene and again he shows that song after song. The biggest compliment however goes out to their new drummer, Ken Mary, known from Fifth Angel, TKO, Chastain, Alice Cooper, Impelliterri and House of Lords. The speed and tight drumming style of Ken is outstanding and together with the bass the excellent engine for each song. After the mid tempo opening track the band really opens all registers, ‘Control’ is a modern speed metal monster with some fine thrash riffs and Maiden influences. ‘Recover’ is a mid tempo heavy metal song in typical Flotsam and Jetsam style, a bit modern and with again some Maiden sounding melodies. ‘Prepare For Chaos’ is a riff based heavier song with again more speed. The high speed tracks continue with ‘Unwelcome Surprise’ as one of the highlights. The combination of thrash and power metal, or is that in fact speed metal, sounds fresh and reminds me of their first two albums.
Before you know it ‘The End’ starts and with that an album of almost 50 minutes of melodic speed metal with some fine thrash riffs ends. I push the repeat button and that will certainly not be the last time. Final conclusion is that Flotsam and Jetsam still delivers the goods, and in my opinion even stronger than on their last album. The first fine 2019 release is a fact!
]]>The band comments: “Death Always Win’ is a song stating the fact that no matter where you are in life, death always has the upper hand. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, successful or failed – we all know what’s to come. The song also reminds us that everything eventually comes to an end, whether it be positive or negative. This can act as motivation in tough times, and also urges you to appreciate the good things in life.”
