They come to us from Inside Out Records. Many of you may know of Nick and his sidekicks, as their combined CV’s are a thing of wonder and length. For the last few decades, Beggs has toured with former Genesis man Steve Hackett and Porcupine Tree founder Steven Wilson. Robert King has been Hackett’s right hand man for twenty years. Minneman has also worked with Steven Wilson and six-string slinger Joe Satriani.

The title track starts things off nicely for us.  Almost too nicely, to be perfectly honest. This is almost easy listening prog.  There is some lovely playing, and even a spunky little solo, but this one never really takes off.  Up next is One Day, featuring Rush axeman Alex Lifeson, which is an ethereal number with some good riffing. This is not super heavy, so if you are looking for prog metal, you should most likely seek elsewhere.  It has a nice, medium tempo groove, and almost perfectly good high clean straight vocals. Ugh. Normally I would be transfixed, but where’s the exciting stuff? Turns out it is coming up…

Knucklehead is another good number, mostly about “people likely in your neighborhood“.  You probably had to deal with a few people like this today! Envy the Dead is up next, and it features a beatbox intro and close, of all things. At first I just thought it was weird vocal FX, but it is definitely a beatbox. Huh.

Sonic Boom is up next, and it is one of the two instrumentals on board. Boom could most likely be described as modern jazzy prog (almost metallic) with bongos!  There is lots of good jamming in this one. Old Men is an almost sugary sweet ballad. The House Where Love Once Lived, same.

Iridium Heart shows a bit of life with its creepy vocal FX and upbeat jamming. Twisted World, Godless Universe is a sprawling, long piece with vocal FX and even spoken word.  I Think of You is another instrumental, only super, super mellow. So, we start out kinda weak, get stronger, then finish off weak again. Ah, well, we can’t all be super prog people now, can we?
