When the first song, “The Hero Inside”, started to play, I felt like I was back in the 80s, with a very melodic kind of happy “Hey hey” song.
I felt like I have heard this song 100 times before, and I was hoping this was not going to be the sound of the entire album.
The second and third song on the album also are very much associated with the 80s hard rock sound. There is not much innovation here. It feels like I know many of the melodies and songs already, and also some of the lyrics are very predictable because of the rhymes.
There are some elements to the sound of this album that are a bit rougher and tougher than other typical hard rock songs, though.
Especially track number four, “I wonder why “, has a rougher and tougher feel to it towards the end, and also track five, “The Hurt”, as an interesting beginning and end to the song, which makes it stand out a bit more from the other songs on the album.
The guitar solos are shining throughout the entire album.
For those who love the shredding guitars from the 80s will love this album and the guitars.
The vocals are not synchronizing with the music, unfortunately. When the music goes a rougher and harder, the vocals are still a bit too nice. There is some power lacking from the vocalist on many of the songs.
There is one cover song on the album. Statement’s version of “California Dreaming” is not bad at all. It is difficult to make such a classic cover without destroying it, but they don’t. This s a song that also makes the singer come alive.
Also, the last track on the album which is a ballad, makes the singer show what he’s got. It seems like the singer is better at singing slower tunes than sounding raw.
For those of you who like Fate, Pretty Maids and other 80s hard rock bands should check this album out.

Statement, one of the most hard-working bands in Denmark, release their third opus, “Force Of Life”, on March 1st on Mighty Music. The record was produced and mixed by Soren Andersen (Mike Tramp, Glenn Hughes) and features 10 songs of melodic rock/metal for fans of Disturbed, Metallica & Pretty Maids. Artwork was done by Jobert Mello/Sledge Hammer (Sabaton, Primal Fear).
The Copenhagen based hard rock band Statement is a living proof that raw talent, ambition and honesty can still prevail in an ailing music industry. The backbone of their work? Old school Hard Rock songs with a new twist. Statement recently returned home after a European tour with British metal legends DIAMOND HEAD. “This tour was the first real tour for us and we met new friends and had a good spirit between all four bands. Diamond Head (UK) was the Headliner act, and Gin Annie (UK) Statement (DK) and Blinding Sparks (F) were the three support bands the tour. We have been playing a lot of shows in these last 5 years but never so many in a row, but we are sure that this tour was just the beginning and one out of many more. Tour life is focus on only one thing, and that’s your performance and that is what we are there for”, says Niels Alex (lead guitars, vocals). The first two albums were recorded and mixed by Tue Madsen/ Antfarm Studios (Sick Of It All, Moonspell etc.)
The new album “Force Of Life” has been produced and recorded by Soren Andersen at Medley Studio (Glenn Hughes/Mike Tramp/Artillery). “Force of Life” was recorded in Medley Studio in two sessions. The first session was tough and a “feel kinda thing” to see if we should continue the new work with Soren Andersen behind the desk. We quickly found out that our minds melted into one, and it totally changed the sound of Statement to something we never expected”, adds vocalist Jannick Brochdorf.
Niels Alex concludes: “On the Diamond Head tour we found ourselves some very good friends in Gin Annie from the UK. They have an album recorded and are doing a release tour in the UK and Statement is invited to play all the shows together with them. We are looking forward to play in UK – it’ll be the first time for us! We’ll be playing 10 shows and we are looking forward to meeting the British audience”.

]]>Statement premieres new video and single today
“«Wonder Why» is a song with roots in my thoughts about how we (humans) in general think too much about our own needs and goals, instead of looking outside the box on how others with less of everything are doing and how the world is corrupting in different aspects of life. And how sometimes we might just need to be happy and grateful for the current situation we are in”.
Jannick Brochdorf, Statement’s vocalist is pretty plain and clear about the theme running through «I Wonder Why», the new song from Denmark’s band, which premieres today as a single and official video. And continues. “Our visions for the rest of 2018 and for 2019 are in motion! We have been working on our new album, added a new layer to our already established sound, and have been putting a bit more thought into the songs, to find out what our specific sound should be like and where we are going with our music”.All the recordings for the future, yet untitled album were done in Medley Studios, with producer Soren Andersen behind the wheel. The band will hit the road with Diamond Head for a European tour starting the 24th of October until the 7th of November. It starts in the Netherlands, going on to Germany, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. Plus, the group will start booking shows for the spring in the next few weeks.Check the «I Wonder Why» video below or in one of our official media partners for this premiere:

Additionally “Darkness In Your Eyes” is the track of the week in the world’s most important rock media Classic Rock Magazine alongside bands like Myles Kennedy, Skindred and The Amorettes!
