Band quote:
“Spellcrying Machine is the apex of our years-long work, our passion for music and for everything that we create. It is a wordless meditaion on the irony of contrary things. When something glittering manifests itself as a model of beauty claiming the throne of aesthetics while under the shell it’s drowning in filth, hypocrisy and cheap illusion tricks, we’d rather trust our soul to something flawed, raw and still yearning for perfection. Crying out loud our spell: Raw Is The Law!”

Vocalist Danny Estrin comments on the video: “We wished to continue having Australian landscapes as a feature point in our music videos following on from the epic music video for ‘Brightstar’. So, to incorporate more of a cityscape vibe for this dark, yet uplifting synth number inspired by Steve Winwood, ‘Colours’ was intended to demonstrate that we are all colours in the sun, and that we as a band are progressing on our onward journey to the next release, as can be visualised in the video”

VOYAGER have furthermore revealed the artwork and track-list of ‘Colours in the Sun’, which can be viewed below.
Vocalist Danny Estrin comments on the album: “Colours in the Sun is the most transcendent, layered, and effervescent album we have written and recorded. It’s poppy, but still holds weight with crunchy, powerful riffs. It’s a true reflection of Voyager – five individuals from different roots coming together and creating a unique sound under the Australian sun.”

Destined for longevity and worldwide success, Perth based quintet VOYAGER recently signed their first worldwide recording contract with Season of Mist following the release of their 6th opus Ghost Mile. Ghost Mile saw dedicated fans contribute to the band’s Pledge Music campaign in 2017, reaching the band’s goal in just a little over a week.
If there is one word to describe VOYAGER’s most current form, it is colourful. After years of evolution and amassing worldwide influences that mold the Perth quintet’s unique sound, VOYAGER have truly come into their own in recent years, crafting a path of success both on and off stage. The genre-transfiguring act blend new-romantic and 80’s infused vocals, keytar solos, technical yet melodic fretwork, groovy bass and bombastic drumming efforts. All of which make VOYAGER the pop/prog/power/rock/metal force that they are renowned as today.
Having toured the world a few times over and having shared the stage with names such as DEFTONES, LEPROUS, NIGHTWISH, COHEED and CAMBRIA, as well as headlining a number of festivals including opening the main stage at Download Festival Australia 2019, Voyager are back with a taste of what’s to come. The band’s versatile sound sees them complement a multiplicity of line-ups, and attract the love and attention of a wide demographic of fans!
In a bid to resonate with audiences all around the world, frontman Danny Estrin explains that “Colours in the Sun” is a musical depiction of a personal journey to an adopted country. “We are the colours in the sun” says Voyager, who are celebrating Australia’s vast and varied beauty with their new album.

CULTED crawled forth from the icy expanse of the Canadian prairies and the Nordic coast of Sweden when Michael Klassen and Matthew Friesen were approached by Daniel Jansson to collaborate on an international project. In 2008, these ideas began to coalesce, with fellow Canadian Kevin Stevenson joining the cult to start the recording of their first two releases: LP ‘Below the Thunders of the Upper Deep’ and EP ‘Of Death and Ritual.’
2013 saw the release of the follow-up full-length, ‘Oblique to All Paths,’ which was written, recorded, and produced in various closets, basements, dens, and domiciles. Now, in 2019, CULTED continue their down-tempo exploration of blackened and industrial soundscapes with ‘Vespertina Synaxis; A Prayer for Union and Emptiness.’ The doom-laden mini-album finds its inspiration in the isolation, alienation, and damnation that dominates the rime-encrusted lands CULTED inhabit.

URN was formed during the winter of 1993, and the first rehearsal tapes were recorded shortly after that. In 1997 URN released their very first official promo tape, which was recorded at the infamous Perkele studio in kuopio, Finland. After a couple line-up changes, the band started performing live gigs as three-piece band which led to a first record deal with Dutch label Damnation Records in 1998. URN entered the studio to record their very first full-length which was created in only two days! In 2001, ‘666 Megatons’ was finally released upon this world and in that same year, URN toured alongside DESTROYER 666, CARPATHIAN FOREST, SABBAT (JP) and UNPURE.
2004 URN recorded a split album with DECAYED, which was specially recorded with an 8-track, directly followed by ‘Dawn Of The Devastation’ in 2006. The busiest years in the band’s career followed with extensive tours all around the globe. After years of playing live and several line-up changes, low motivation and lack of interest kicked in. All members of URN now focused on several other musical (solo) projects. With Revenant joining URN in 2011, the time felt right to start the engines of URN once again. First rehearsals were scheduled, and the creation of brand-new music was in full swing. The brand-new release ‘The Burning’ was born in 2017 and with it, new motivation and inspiration that made URN stronger than ever before.
With ‘Iron Will Of Power’, URN walk their own path more powerful than ever, and with a well-deserved ‘we do what we want’ mentality they salute grinning, whilst conquering the throne of Black Steel Worship!

HELFRÓ comment: “We are extremely proud of our debut album and it therefore brings us joy to have joined Season of Mist. We believe it is the best platform for our music, as our musical palette has been influenced greatly by bands on the SoM roster. We are absolutely focused on producing the fastest and darkest of melodies, and having SoM´s support guarantees us the means to stay on that path.”
Slithering in the cauldron that is the Icelandic black metal scene, HELFRÓ emerges with fury and competence rarely seen.
Written by Ragnar (Ophidian I, ex-Svartidauði (live), ex-Beneath and ex-Valkyria (live)) and arranged by Símon (Ophidian I), a debut album has been recorded with unforgiving precision and profound musicianship. It is meant to channel the hopeless and empty feelings that have been concentrated from the frozen wastelands from which the band emerges.
Shrilling guitar work and unforgiving blast beats weave together a soundscape that rarely leaves room for thought. It is an aural attack, seducing the listener to the barren and desolate black sands where the realization of futility and loneliness sets in heavier than anywhere else.
The band members, veterans in extreme music, have created this project as an audio representation of the endless arctic darkness, and with pride present ‘HELFRÓ’.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with ‘UNUS’, the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s ‘Advent of the Human God’. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; ‘UNUS’ is no exception to this.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.
‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

International press quotes on ‘Adore’:
Heavy Mag (AU) – “Malevolently atmospheric, harmoniously disharmonic, beautifully brutal but above all, in one word Adore is best summed up as thought provoking and stunning.”
Everything is Noise (DE) – “With Adore, Numenorean have showcased the potential of being the leaders of the pack for the genre’s evolution in the coming years.”
Ave Noctum (UK) – 9/10 – “Angry, emotional, heartrending, passionate, magnificent, inspirational. Every track oozes with life – as dirty and raw and covered in bodily fluids and joyful sweat as it should be. Bloody beautiful”.
Rock Hard (FR) Album on the month – 8/10 – “Fans of Wolves In The Throne Room and early Alcest should definitely check it out!”
Contrasting the bleakness of their debut record ‘Home’, Canadian post-black metal act NUMENOREAN have painted their sophomore effort ‘Adore’ in an array of brighter shades, while never loosing intensity.
Having only released a 2-song demo in 2014, the band got offered a lengthy recording deal by Season of Mist. Soon after, debut record ‘Home’ followed and the underground met NUMENOREAN’s take on post black metal with some critical acclaim, yet also polarizing views, due to the graphic nature of the cover.
With ‘Home’, NUMENOREAN achieved far more than just following a musical path pioneered by DEAFHEAVEN, ALCEST, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT. The Canadians crafted a musical masterpiece that embraced beauty, harshness and melancholy in equal measure and transformed those into fragile, nihilistic and hauntingly beautiful songs.
After playing shows with DEAFHEAVEN, GHOST BATH and BATUSKHA in Canada, the United States and Australia, NUMENOREAN set up a crowdfunding campaign to fund the recording of the sophomore album with Josh Schroeder (GHOST BATH).
Forming the antithesis of the previous album, ‘Adore’ adopts a more vibrant approach, both musically and thematically. Rather than seeing life from a nihilistic view, the songs convey a loose message of hope. The lyrics and the theme of the music explore being beat, down and broken, but still finding a way to preserve by finding reasons to appreciate life for what it can be.
NUMENOREAN skilfully employ the feeling of melancholy, an intricate song writing and the black metal roots that marked their debut. Yet the newfound hooks and facets of ‘Adore’, represent a band that has established and evolved sound. ‘Adore’, will be one for the year lists of 2019.

The band comments:
“We are proud to present you “Nyarlathotep”, a song based on the Lovecraft’s text with the same name. What better than a dark and heavy track to bring us in front of the “messenger, heart, and soul” of the Outer Gods, to sink into madness and the knowledge of occult secrets. Enjoy the encounter, be afraid for your sanity. He is the scourge, he is the wounds, he is the purge, who brings the final dooms”.

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.” H.P. LOVECRAFT (1890-1937)
Channelling the spirit and literary heritage of author H.P. Lovecraft, French Atmospheric black metallers THE GREAT OLD ONES have returned with their most impressive work to date. ‘Cosmicism’ lures the listener deeper into darkness with intricate, beautiful and twisted melodies, ultimately encompassing them with madness.
THE GREAT OLD ONES emerged in 2009 from the old parts of the ancient Aquitanian harbour city of Bordeaux, FRANCE, a city famed for its secrets and deep red wine. After releasing their first album, ‘Al Azif,’ the reactions of critics and fans were unanimously positive.
The band followed up with their second full-length, ‘Tekeli-li,’ which garnered even higher praise. As a result, THE GREAT OLD ONES played a show at the acclaimed Roadburn festival, opened for BEHEMOTH in their homeland, played at Hellfest, and supported label mates SHINING and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT.
The third full length, ‘EOD – A Tale of Dark Legacy,’ (2017) marked another big step in the band’s fast rising career. The five-piece took the road with the legendary GAAHLS WYRD and embarked on a successful European co-headline tour with label mates AUÐN from Iceland. THE GREAT OLD ONES also appeared on the billing of respected festivals, such as Brutal Assault and Eindhoven Metal Meeting, in front of a gigantic crowd of cultists.
Now, the French worshippers of Cthulhu reveal their fourth offering to the old ones. “Cosmicism” is a literary philosophy developed by H.P. Lovecraft. The idea behind “Coscmicism” is that humans are godless creatures who are totally insignificant in the grand scheme of our cosmic universe.
The production of this album was entrusted to Francis Caste (SINSAENUM, LOUDBLAST, SVART CROWN, REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMER, HANGMAN’S CHAIR) of the Studio Sainte-Marthe, who managed to capture the singular essence of THE GREAT OLD ONES.
The record is a true journey in the cold deep of space. Each song features a Lovecraftian entity and parallel the dark destiny of the protagonist who meets her and in turn, slowly succumbs to admiration and madness. Lyrics inspired by H.P. Lovecraft layered over haunting, melodic beauty result in a perfect match. Just listen and you will find out what awaits down there…

CLOAK comments on the new album:
“We have spent the last two years meticulously crafting our new album that we have come to name ‘The Burning Dawn.’ This process has changed us by giving way to a very different representation of our art, one that this album embodies completely. It is more of an attack than a reflection, and we feel that ‘Tempter’s Call’ is the perfect introduction into this new chapter. Join us!”

Unyielding darkness and brutality emerge from the deep south of the United States. Atlanta, GA based quartet CLOAK blend the sounds of black metal, rock ‘n’ roll, and homegrown Southern sludge to create their own unique and menacing sound.
Their debut full-length, ‘To Venomous Depths,’ (2017) was met with critical acclaim upon its release. Decibel Magazine placed it at #20 among their “Top 40 Albums of 2017,” solidifying the band’s place among the heavy metal elite. Now, CLOAK is back with ‘The Burning Dawn,’ a riff-heavy and groove-laden follow-up that proves the band are still rife with fresh ideas.
Conceptually, the record comes from a place below the surface where the sleepless and sinister dwell, and is absorbed by the darkest of dreams and the most primal desires. Musically, this exploration takes the gothic nuances of its predecessor while abandoning any hesitation in exchange for a more aggressive and vehement spirit.
While rippers like “On Poisoned Ground” and “Into the Storm” deliver a fury of soulful aggression, songs like “Lifeless Silence” and “The Fire, The Faith, The Void” offer a darker, gothic essence, ultimately displaying CLOAK’s multi-faceted and dynamic musical diversity. So, raise your fists and set fire to the world; this is ‘The Burning Dawn’.

Vocalist Sean Worrell comments on the signing:
“I can’t think of a much better home for our music than Season of Mist. They’ve been releasing quality bands of all genres for decades including favorites like Deathspell Omega, Cynic, Virus, The Dillinger Escape Plan and, of course, our good friends in Gorguts – among countless others!”
An example on what to expect can be found here!
NERO DI MARTE – Those who Leave (official music video)
Since 2012, NERO DI MARTE have been devoted towards creating experimental yet heavy music contaminated by prog, death metal, psychedelia and contemporary classical music. The dissolution of these different influences creates a space in which dissonance, melody, claustrophobic and dreamlike atmospheres become instinctively juxtaposed.
Shortly after releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013, the Italian band was asked by Luc Lemay to tour North America with legendary death metal bands GORGUTS and ORIGIN. Following the success of the tour, the band entered the studio in 2014 to record their second album “Derivae” later that year.
Both albums received critical acclaim and the band dedicated the following years to performing live, culminating in a European tour with GORGUTS, PSYCROPTIC and DYSRHYTHMIA in 2016 and performances in festivals such as Royal Metal Fest, Stonehenge Fest, Metalorgie Fest, Krakatoa Fest and Solo Macello Fest.
With drummer Marco Bolognini leaving in late 2016, the band recruited drummer/octopus Giulio Galati (HIDEOUS DIVINITY) in early 2017 to continue composing their third album. After 5 long years of work and transformations, the band finally completed writing and recording their third album in early 2019 – once again at Studio73 (Ephel Duath, The Secret, Blindead) in Ravenna with sound engineer Riccardo Pasini.
