Contemporary Classic Rock outfit from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band was founded in 2018 by these three old-time friends and top-notch professionals: ANDRÉ ANDERSEN, JONAS LARSEN and HENRIK BROCKMANN – all mated through their original band ROYAL HUNT.
In the spring of 2018 the label asked the guys to get together and re-record one of the original/unreleased songs from ROYAL HUNT´s debut album (for the re-issue of the classic) and they had so much fun doing it that – all of the sudden – the idea of N’TRIBE was born. All of the guys are huge fans of those “70´s Golden Years” yet very well aware of the fact that it´s 2018 outside… so to unite these two things was the main goal from the start.
Their idea behind N´TRIBE is relatively simple:
– Take the vibe of “classic rock” and make it sound contemporary
– Get the best team around
– Record the hardest hitting album possible
– Get behind it 100% and bring the music on the road
– Repeat p. 3 & 4
With some significant help from their Scandinavian musician-friends (all as competent and dedicated as our trio) the album is about to be recorded, artwork agreed on, first video is out and a lyric video is under construction, some selected shows for the forthcoming spring/summer is about to get settled, PR/web crew is on fire so what are we waiting for?! “This album took a while to complete… mind you, between the very first idea and until the final mix we did two tours and released two live-albums… so this one´s been in the making for quite some time. In a way it´s been very practical: you could work on it for a while, than go on doing something else and then come back later to re-evaluate what´s been done before. As a result all songs on the album are solid and well crafted, showing every aspect of Royal Hunt today: originality, catchy hooks, strong melodies, great musicianship and larger-than-life production. On that – the production – we definitely did quite a job: all the vital recorded parts were done in analog as well as the final mixing/mastering so there´re no “loudness wars” in-sight; no brickwall limited, over-compressed, lifeless wall of sound… the album breaths just like a real rock album should. I could also go on for hours praising everybody´s contribution – musicians and singers alike – but as my opinion will inevitably be very biased, I would prefer to leave the final judgment to you… after all this album´s been made for you to enjoy (although we´re enjoying it immensely ourselves at the moment)”

On the other hand, this also looks a bit strange, since their previous album, Cargo, was released last year also a double live album. But luckily the song selections and running order vary quite a bit, and this is in my humble opinion the better release both from a sound and song selection standpoint.
2016 was recorded in Russia, in Moscow’s Izvestiya Hall and is a very strong live album. However, I do question the necessity for its release. This is not necessarily a must have for progressive metal fans, maybe not even for Royal Hunt fans.
2016 is available on Blu-Ray, 2-CD and Ltd. 2-CD+DVD Edition.
