Described as a vehicle of “melancholy and rage” and born out of the emerging music scene of Alberta, Canada, the 2017 YYC Awards Metal Recording of the Year winner Red Cain is a power/progressive metal project with Russian roots, built along traditions of storytelling of the cult of Veles, Slavic god of war and earth. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts and elements of Russian myth and Slavic paganism, Red Cainchampion a fluid, dynamic and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience.
Frontman Evgeniy Zayarny has often said he wants to bring back the “Devil’s music” mysticism all too often missing in modern metal groups and listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Powerwolf, Amaranthe whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of the band is all of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy …shaken and stirred.

Calgary’s RED CAIN are thrilled to announce they will be performing on this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC for the second night of the event on April 27th at the Rickshaw Theatre alongside Crimson Shadows, Judicator and many more.

RED CAIN will be performing in support of their first full-length “Kindred: Act I” that was recently released on March 1, 2019.
The album was produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios and features guests Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), Daniel Louden (Benevolent Like Quietus) and guitarist Tyler Corbett.
The album’s artwork was done by Timur Khabirov with cover design by Igor Zayarny. The band has shared a few videos in support of the debut album.

Produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios, RED CAIN are extremely proud and excited to have their friend, Kobra and the Lotus vocalist Kobra Paige featured on their next single “Wing of The Crow”. Her work with Kobra and the Lotus needs no introduction, and when it came time to deliver the mighty yet intricate vocals for the Morrigan, the Celtic goddess of war on this track, she was their unanimous choice for the part. The single takes a deep dive into the wonderful, lethal darkness of Celtic mythology with the tale of The Morrigan, goddess of war, and Cuchulainn, a mighty hero daring to turn from her advances – a tale sung by warriors across many campfires on cold winter nights. We filmed this clip at the historic Slaughterhouse Studios in Calgary, and worked with local filmmaker Zak Kelly, who did an absolutely killer job recreating our vision. With the “Snakebouquet” video, we wanted to capture the feel of our live performances and, of course, tell a story – a story of humanity’s reach toward the stars, powered by mysticism, bravery, pure will, and scientific achievement. We dedicate this song to those fearless men and women who have taken, and continue to take, humanity’s first steps into the void. The theme of human transcendence and the clash of old and new myths are central to our upcoming album “Kindred”, so “ad astra sine metu” – “to the stars, without fear”, and have a taste of what is to come!”
