RAGE
sign with SPV/Steamhammer!
25th studio album due out in January 2020
Festival tours in summer & winter 2019
15 years after the arrival of their live recording From The Cradle To The Stage, German metal legend Rage have returned to Hanover imprint, SPV/Steamhammer. The band featuring frontman Peavy Wagner, guitarist Marcos Rodriguez and drummer Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos is currently busy working on new material for their upcoming album Wings Of Rage (working title), scheduled for release on 10 January 2020. A lead single will be out in September 2019, the second single to be lifted from the album is due to be released just before Christmas. Wings Of Rage is the group’s 25th studio album and will be recorded at the Soundchaser Studio in Burscheid. Peavy promises an offering featuring “the essence of our musical development, the kind of songs that we have stood for since the mid-eighties.”
Rage are planning to embark on a festival tour across Europe even before delivering their new material to present, together with the Lingua Mortis Orchestra, the full XIII album live for the first time. The show had its baptism of fire at the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise, and a special highlight will be Rage’s appearance at the W:O:A at the beginning of August 2019. Towards the end of the year, Rage are scheduled to play lots of important winter festivals, before their major Wings Of Rage tour kicks off in February 2020.
“We’re really happy to be back with SPV/Steamhammer,” says Peavy Wagner. “Since our very successful and enjoyable collaboration in the early 2000s we’ve known that we’re in expert hands with Olly Hahn and his team. Olly and I share a long-standing friendship, he will continue to promote Rage with his usual commitment.”
SPV/Steamhammer label manager Olly Hahn is delighted with his new signing:
“It’s fantastic to have a band such as Rage on our roster again, their outstanding role in the development of German metal is undisputed. To be in a position to release their 25th studio album fills me with great pride and ambition.”

]]>The album, that RAGE recorded together with the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA in 1998 became an all time metal classic. Now the band have announced, that – for the first time ever – they will play the album live in full together with the orchestra. This exclusive show will come to select festival stages in Europe over the summer; the only show in Germany will be at Wacken Open Air 2019.
Peavy Wagner comments:
“As we toured in Winter 1997/98 with the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA, the “XIII” Album was not released yet and even in later live shows we never managed to play this metal classic in its full length, so it makes me more than proud that we can finally realize this project now, more than two decades later.”
The premiere of the show at 70000 Tons Of Metal was extremely successful. Parallel to the exclusive festival shows there will be a re-release with an extended version of the album, featuring previously unreleased demos and the record will also be available on vinyl for the first time ever! Catch the show live at one of the following festivals:
05.07.19 – ESP – Rockfest Barcelona
13.07.19 – CZ – Masters of Rock
03.08.19 – GER – Wacken

]]>The album was produced by Chris Djuricic & WRATH, and mixed and mastered by the legendary Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Sacred Reich, Helstar), with explosive cover art created by Ipoet Poetra/Five Mlligrams and WRATH, Rage is 10 tracks of unadulterated Thrash Metal fury.
1. CONFLICT
2. WHAT YOU CRAVE
3. DRAW BLOOD
4. TENSION ON HIGH
5. MY RAGE
6. FEEDING THE HOST
7. CLEARING MY SOUL
8. UNHOLY ALLIANCE
9. MOTHER’S HELL
10. ACE OF SPADES (Featuring Jeff Duncan)
The incredible perseverance of WRATH is driven by the fact that the band remains wildly-relevant through 3 decades and counting. From the 1985 breakout debut FIT OF ANGER and the twisted 1987 sophomore cult favorite NOTHING TO FEAR, original vocalist Gary Golwitzer is back at the helm, and WRATH is truly firing on all cylinders!
Originally written as the follow up to 1990’s INSANE SOCIETY, some tracks from RAGE originated as far back as 1989. With a fresh approach, and a new record deal with David Ellefson and Thom Hazaert’s revived COMBAT RECORDS, the rock-solid lineup of Golwitzer on vocals, bassist Gary Modica, the dual-guitar attack of Scott Nyquist and Rob Noon, and powerhouse drummer Jake Fromkin, dove head first into RAGE with a renewed sense of power, angst, and purpose, churning out.
The album also features a cover of the Motorhead classic “Ace of Spades”, a tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister, featuring a guest appearance by Armored Saint/Odin/DC4 Guitarist Jeff Duncan.
Says COMBAT’s Thom Hazaert,
“When me and David (Ellefson) relaunched COMBAT, our goal was to faithfully bridge the past, present, and future of Thrash and Underground Metal. And WRATH, to me, was always one of the unsung heroes of the genre, putting out indisputable classics like NOTHING TO FEAR, and FIT OF ANGER, that are still so highly regarded by fans. So it made perfect sense when the opportunity came to add them to the COMBAT roster, especially with the reunited lineup with Gary back in the fold. RAGE is an amazing record that I think fans, new and old, will talk about for years to come.”
Wrath, alongside COMBAT labelmates Green Death, will be supporting Ellefson on the Midwest dates of his BASSTORY Tour, including shows in WI, IL, and MN.
10/3 Bradley, IL – The Looney Bin
10/4 Lombard, IL – Brauer House
10/5 Sturtevant, WI – Route 20 Outhouse
10/6 Ringle, WI – Q and Z Expo Center
10/7 Mankato, MN – What’s Up Lounge
]]>I think you will not be surprised that the music on Solitary Men sounds a lot like old Rage and is a combination of power metal, speed metal parts, groove and melodic refrains. On top of that the guitar solos are again of a really high standard. The mix of faster songs with heavy metal groovy tracks keeps you focused.
Opener ‘Summer’s Winter’ immediately is the blue print for the album combining speed, contagious melodic refrains and groove. After that there is a variety of slower songs and faster tracks, in typical Rage-style. One of my favorite tracks is ‘Mind Over Matter’, with some fine thrash riffing, speed and groove. The last 2 songs are old Rage tracks. ‘Waterfalls’ is a rather soft track, almost a ballad and needs some time to get used to (not one of my favorites). Final conclusion is that Refuge made an album that will be liked by all Rage fans for sure and with their best line-up I didn’t expect less either.
