]]>“Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck”! PRONG will return to Europe in August to present their groundbreaking 1994 album “Cleansing” live on stage. The American pioneers of hard music reached a much wider audience with this album and their experimental sound than with their three previous acclaimed masterpieces “Force Fed” (1988), “Beg To Differ” (1990), and “Prove You Wrong” (1991). Those first three records earned the three-piece from New York, headed by the charismatic frontman Tommy Victor, a well-deserved reputation as an avant-garde outfit. Their forward-thinking blend of hardcore, thrash and industrial metal, and electronic sounds counted among many others, Metallica, Korn, and Nine Inch Nails as declared fans.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of “Cleansing”, Prong will bring this album to selected Europan festivals and stages in August. The tour is presented by an ecclectic range of music magazines that suit the essential crossover nature of PRONG: Rock Hard, Visions, Ox-Fanzine, Slam, and Metal.de. A list of all currently confirmed shows can be viewed below.
PRONG comment: “We will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our 1994 album ‘Cleansing’ in Europe with a short series of intimate dates as well as festival shows in August”, writes the band. “For this run, we will consist of founding member Tommy Victor, bassist Jason Christopher on bass, and drummer Art Cruz. We will delve deep into our ‘Cleansing’ material and also play tracks from ‘Beg to Differ”, and on top of this, we will have some surprises in store for you!”

]]>American power trio PRONG has released the new lyric video for the song “However It May End, which was created by TheCutCartel, Toronto, Canada. The track is taken from the band’s latest album, “Zero Days”( https://Prong.lnk.to/ZeroDays ), which was released last July via Steamhammer/SPV. The disc was once again produced by PRONG mainman Tommy Victor, with trusted collaborator Chris Collier as co-producer and engineer.
Tommy Victor said about the song and the video:
“Hey, Prong has a new lyric video for the song “However It May End” from our Zero Days album. I threw some Eastern philosophical ideas in with a Western doomsday outlook for the concept of the song. The video depicts the transcendence with violence. It came out great; check it out!”

PRONG is continuing to tour in support of their recent “Zero Days” release. After a solid year of touring with the likes of Testament, Obituary, Sepultura and Exodus, as well as having key slots on the European summer festival circuit in 2017, the band recently completed a headline run with Powerflo and a highly coveted, co-headline run with Helmet. Pioneers of the alternative metal genre, PRONG have continued to re-invent themselves by challenging the status quo every step they take, as seen on “Zero Days”.

Outline Magazine UK wrote about one of the recent shows: “From the start it’s clear why Prong have made such an impression on the music scene. They have a sound bigger than the sum of the three people on stage, and they know how to use it. It’s like someone has weaponised metal, and they’re using the audience for aural target practice. It’s impressive, and it’s also really, really fucking good.”

]]>The first song ‘However it May End’ is a typical thrash/hardcore song with aggressive vocals from Tommy, varied with clean parts. The title track is one of my favorites, a song with more thrash influences and a very strong riff. It is one of the faster songs. The next one I need to mention is ‘Divide and Conquer’, as the refrain is very (almost radio friendly) catchy. The aggressive and brutal thrashcore track ‘Forced Into Tolerance’ is up next, followed by the riff monster ‘Interbeing’.
Before you know it, the album is half way through, and without a moment of boredom. The second part is almost as strong as the first. ‘Blood Out of Stone’ is in my opinion the weakest one, but they make this up with the next songs easily. ‘Self Righteous Indignation’ is a stranger in between all the others. It is slow with doom and sludge influenced riffs. I don’t know if the ‘hardcore’ Prong fan can appreciate this. The next track is very catchy, and fans of Cleansing and/or Rude Awakening will be pleased by it.
All in all, I have to conclude that Prong succeeded in creating a perfect follow up of X (No Absolutes). Zero Days is catchy, heavy, and with Tommy singing better than ever.
