PORTRAIT is happy to announce their participation in the upcoming ROSS THE BOSS tour next October. PORTRAIT won’t be able to attend the first six shows of the tour, but will jump on the bus October, 24th in Winterthur, Switzerland.

ROSS THE BOSS announces tour with BULLET and special guests CRYSTAL VIPER for part 1 and PORTRAIT for part 2 of the tour
A seriously great real metal package is coming to town: Manowar co-founding guitarist ROSS THE BOSS announces headline tour all over Europe to promote his recently released album ‘BY BLOOD SWORN. His band features siren Marc Lopes on lead vocals, Symphony X bassist Mike LePond on bass and Steve Bolognese on drums.
ROSS THE BOSS states:
“On April 20th we released a very ambitious album, BY BLOOD SWORN. Now in the fall we will perform some of these great new tunes plus the timeless classics. Hope everyone will be there to witness the onslaught!”
Alongside the ROSS THE BOSS band, Sweden’s BULLET will raise the value of the tour package as co-headliner. The band released their latest critically acclaimed album ‘DUST TO GOLD’ just as Ross on April 20th.

About one year ago WITHERFALL self-released their debut album in North America, followed by a European release through Century Media Records in October 2017. Few debut albums have stirred up the metal scene as massively as “Nocturnes And Requiems”, getting highest praise from both fans and media. Now WITHERFALL present a brand-new video clip for the album’s opening track “Portrait”, a somber ghost story and a prime example of the musical vision and power of this brilliant dark melodic US metal band.

“Witherfall never settle for anything less than perfection in everything we do. We have spent the last year searching for the right video production team. A writer/director who shared our epic vision of “Portrait”. With multiple locations, a cast and crew of over a dozen as well as adverse filming conditions notwithstanding; it was already an ambitious effort to do a music video like this in the current climate of the industry. To us, it was either go big or go home. We want to thank all of the cast and crew that handled “The Shining” like conditions of the “Portrait” music video production.”

The post production for the video was completed by renowned producer/director Eduardo Rodriguez, known for his work on „Fright Night 2“ and „El Gringo“. WITHERFALL have finished the song writing process for their eagerly awaited second album, and are about to enter the studio in the upcoming weeks. The yet untitled new album is set to be released in autumn 2018.

]]>Most of our readers know of Portrait, and I can say their style hasn’t changed. They play classic heavy metal influenced by Judas Priest and the two bands I have already mentioned. Many tempo changes, howling solos, the extreme high singing of Per Lengstedt, and some rather complex riffing are the ingredients for Burn the World. After the intro, it is nothing but enjoyment from the first track to the last. Per’s vocals have many similarities to King Diamond, as well as the atmosphere of the songs. Besides up tempo bangers like ‘Flaming Blood’ and ‘Mine to Reap’, there are some more modest parts as well. One of my personal favorites is ‘Martyrs’, an epic song with many tempo changes and variety, typical Mercyful Fate… eh sorry, I mean Portrait.
If you are not familiar with Portrait, yet and like old school King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Hell, or a band like RAM, you should check out Burn the World.
