UNLEASH THE ARCHERS return with their new EP Explorers, to be released on 11th October 2019 via Napalm Records, only two years after having released their smashing album Apex. The EP will feature two cover songs. The first single to be released on 30th August 2019 is called “Northwest Passage”, originally written and performed by Stan Rogers.
UNLEASH THE ARCHERS on “Northwest Passage”:
“This song means a lot to us as a band, we like to put it on during those long drives on tour and it always brings us right back home. We originally recorded it to be a bonus track for our last full length album Apex, but we loved the track so much we knew it needed special treatment. We held on to it for a bit and eventually decided to release it as its own 7″ vinyl EP with another Canadian cover song as the B side. The song “Northwest Passage” is all about touring through Canada, which Stan Rogers did a lot, and how it equates to being an explorer looking for the passage all those years ago. It really hits home with us, we’ve toured through Canada too many times to count, so we know just how Stan was feeling. That’s where the name of the EP came from too; every time we hit the road on tour it’s like we too become Explorers, with the great big unknown stretching out before us.”

One can only imagine how exciting it must have been to explore this unknown continent back in the day, but also, how terrifying.”

The second track on Explorers, “Heartless World”, was originally written by Canadian hair metal band Teaze. UNLEASH THE ARCHERS say they gravitated towards this band, because they are rather unknown: “The song “Heartless World” has a really interesting arrangement and can’t seem to decide if it’s a ballad or a rock opera. Unlike Northwest Passage, where we played around with it quite a bit, we left “Heartless World” almost completely as is, and only changed a few small things like solos and vocal melodies. We thought it would be a great companion piece to “Northwest Passage” and really round out the moody Explorers vibe.”
In addition, it was just announced that UNLEASH THE ARCHERS will take part in the Full Metal Cruise 2020, which starts in Kiel, Germany, on 23rd September 2020, alongside Sonata Arctica and label colleagues Legion Of The Damned – don’t miss it!

Calgary-based hard rock quintet KOBRA AND THE LOTUS have returned with their new studio album, Evolution, which will get a September 20 release via Napalm Records. Following hot on the heels of their first single “Burn”, today the band releases a lyric video for the new track “Get The F*ck Out Of Here”.

Kobra talks about the meaning behind the song: “Get The F*ck Out Of Here!” Time to get stoked, because this track was made for pumping people up and we’re going to keep whipping out the unexpected on this new album. Bad juju… no way. This track is meant to put a fun spin on wiping your life of the predatory relationships that suck your energy dry and to charge you up so you can GTFO! Use it daily.”
Evolution sees the band imbued with a new fire that comes through by way of undeniable hooks, soaring guitar riffs, marching drum beats, and the soulful, bombastic vocal delivery of lead singer Kobra Paige. No longer bound by old formulas and expectations from the past, Evolution comes through with a sound that is expansive and, at times, borders on outright swagger. Each song feels like an Active Rock hit in the making, while still having the grit and feverish intensity that longtime fans have come to admire from KOBRA AND THE LOTUS.

Band to Begin Worldwide Tour in Support of Latest Release in September
As the debut single “Wouldn’t You Rather” continues to climb the Active Rock charts and on the heels of the recently-released, fan favorite “Pay No Mind,” Alter Bridge have unveiled another track from their upcoming release Walk The Sky (October 18th via Napalm Records). “Take The Crown” is now available on all digital service providers around the globe and an inspiring lyric video for the track can be seen here: https://youtu.be/YG3QxwA7i34. The song, which is sure to be an addition to the band’s live set, opens with the rallying cry lyric “So sorry, so sorry, but you’re going down.” The song is quintessential Alter Bridge and showcases the musicianship that has won Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums, fans around the globe.
For over 15 years, Alter Bridge has been a band known for blurring the line between hard rock and heavy metal. Recorded in a way never done before, the album was born from complete song ideas created by Kennedy and Tremonti. These songs would then be worked on by the entire band to create the fourteen songs that would make Walk The Sky the listening experience it is. This varies from the band’s previous method going back to their sophomore release Blackbird where Kennedy and Tremonti would combine individual ideas and riffs alongside producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette to form some of the band’s most revered songs. From the opening vocal melody on “One Life” to the moving finale of “Dying Light,” Alter Bridge have created a formidable addition to their music catalog. Kobra Paige has the pipes to overtake rock as the next powerhouse frontwoman
KOBRA AND THE LOTUS have returned with their new studio album ‘Evolution‘, which will get a September 20th release on Napalm Records.
The upcoming LP sees the band imbued with a new fire that comes through by way of undeniable hooks, soaring guitar riffs, marching drum beats, and the soulful, bombastic vocal delivery of lead singer Kobra Paige. No longer bound by old formulas and expectations from the past, ‘Evolution‘ comes through with a sound that is expansive and, at times, borders on outright swagger. Each song feels like an Active Rock hit in the making, while still having the grit and feverish intensity that longtime fans have come to admire from KOBRA AND THE LOTUS.
Fans can now enjoy the first offering from ‘Evolution‘. The band has dropped their music video for the new single “Burn!”, which can be HERE.
Evolution‘ boasts the band’s most cohesive and confident material to date. For the new record, Kobra and the Lotus enlisted the services of producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette[Alter Bridge, Linkin Park, Slash, Sevendust].
“The new body of work sets the tone for the music going forward. Sonically, it’s still heavy. It highlights the showmanship and maintains the edge. At the same time, it’s approachable. It pays tribute to our influences, but it takes the next step. So, it’s a reintroduction to us and a rebirth. A firm goal was to build a strong identity and update everything. We just want to be KOBRA AND THE LOTUS; that’s what we’re doing.”
The first single, “Burn!” ignites this chapter. A hummable riff snaps into a visceral verse as the frontwoman directly declares, “I really hate you, yes I do.” The track builds towards an incendiary and infectious chorus, hinging on a seesawing guttural groove and hitting like a sledgehammer.
“It’s about all of the reasons you hold yourself back,” she explains. “You literally need to burn all of those feelings, stories, excuses, and obstacles keeping you from being your own authentic self. It’s super personal. It’s a product of growing and arriving as a person. I’m realizing who I am. It’s symbolic of the rebirth,” says Kobra.

While all of us are patiently waiting for their new album, ALIEN WEAPONRY makes the wait a little sweeter by bestowing the new official video for “Blinded” upon us. The song is physically available on the almost sold out Ahi Kā 7 Inch Single (A-side: “Ahi Kā”, B-side: “Blinded”) now and talks about the difficulty of relationships. It focuses on how hard it is to reconcile and see through all the confusion when you’re a teenager and travel around the world to play your music while trying to keep a relationship working. It is deeply personal and very touching, since probably everyone has felt something similar to this at least once in their lives. ALIEN WEAPONRY was formed in 2010 by brothers Lewis (vocals & guitar) and Henry de Jong (drums), who were 8 and 10 years old at the time. The two would later move to the small town of Waipu in 2012, and went on to meet Ethan Trembath (bass) there in 2013. The de Jong brothers came up with the name ALIEN WEAPONRY after watching the film District 9.
Both Lewis and Henry are of Ngati Pikiāo and Ngati Raukawa (Māori tribal) descent, and began their schooling at a kura kaupapa Māori (full immersion Māori language school) where singing waiata (songs) and performing haka were a daily routine. Also ingrained in their early education were stories of New Zealand history told to them by their father, who would also introduce them to the music of Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others.
