Memoriam Riff master, Scott Fairfax, has been busy in his home studio writing the debut album for As The World Dies, with Chris McGrath. With nine, possibly ten tracks ready, they will be working with Ajeet Gill at Hellfire studios, to mix and master the project. Scott worked with Ajeet for the first Memoriam demos and the highly recognized debut album (For The Fallen) to help them achieve a huge sounding album. The band are now thrilled to announce that they have a full line up with some heavy hitters from the United Kingdom’s heavy metal scene, plus some outstanding guest vocalists and good friends featuring.
Scott is well known for his work with Old School Death Metal Titans, Memoriam UK and he has enlisted some fantastic musicians who are more than pleased to help impale the music industry with the brutality that is ‘As The World Dies’. On drums will be Chris McGrath who has been a lifelong friend of Scott’s, he himself is a renowned drummer who has most recently had major success as well as being a part of Memoriam himself for one live show. On bass is Phil Milman (Ashen Crown), second guitar comes from former Gehtika guitarist Topher O’Meagher and on vocals is former The Face Of Ruin frontman Alex Mumford.
Chris McGrath states… “As The World Dies is a reference to the chaos & destruction that the human race has caused and highlights that we are all guilty of its demise. Quite simply, “We are standing and watching ‘As The World Dies’” Once the band had decided on the name it set in motion the direction that they wanted to go and the story that they wanted to portray through the lyrical content, In their own words…”We didn’t want to release just another death metal racket, we wanted something with meaning. As The World Dies is heavily influenced by Bands such as.. At The Gates, Benediction, Strapping Young Lad, Cannibal Corpse, Bolt thrower and also for a different and more melodic spin Septicflesh and Devin Townsend’s earlier career (Ocean Machine / Terria) and is set to feature crushing riffs and soundscapes Scott is renowned for creating.
“As The World Dies are thrilled to announce that they will be unleashing their creation before the world actually does die!” – AS THE WORLD DIES

]]>Ready to make your ears bleed with the kind of “metal ear candy” that commands your senses scream in loathing love of death and malice? Monster riffs, unrelenting grooviness and the atmosphere of oppression lingers throughout the entire album. Memrioam “Requiem for Mankind” takes OLD School to a team effort that is well worth more than the casual spin!
“Well, here we are with our third album, ‘Requiem For Mankind’. On our previous albums, we have experimented with different musical and vocal styles which have finally got us to the here and now with what we think is the definitive MEMORIAM album. It’s death metal. It’s all we know. It feels like the previous albums were a buildup to this one. We finally have all the right ingredients in one place. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Onwards!”. Memoriam
Memoriam was assembled from the ashes following the unforseen and tragic death of Martin “Kiddie” Kearns, the drummer from Bolt Thrower. Bolt Thrower, much like any metal band was a family, thus taking a break was inevitable. Fast forward to Karl Willetts seizing the opporunity in front of him provided an outlet for himself and his friends. What we as fans received was a death metal band focused on healing through music with themes focused on death, loss and the gruesomeness of war.
Russ Russell puts some signature death sugar on this album with each and every song echoing from the depths of the Parlour Studios with visceral angst! “Shell Shock” is as stripped down and nasty as it gets opening the album with a nice and easy slow metal burn leading the listener through the rest of the album. Its a slow and steady build of carnage and chaos through the entire album. “The Veteran“, as a track, stands a head above the rest and stays on repeat through my earbuds as it lays waste to the other tracks in mastery, however, it can be a hard tossup as the ninth track on the album, “Fixed Bayonets” keeps the lyrical and musical bleeding in my ears at a steady form of fist pumping.
I highly recommend you stop reading this shit and buy the album or check out these hard pricks ON TOUR NOW!!!!!
Get their swag NOW!
]]>The war rages on! The third album from old school metal veterans MEMORIAM, »Requiem For Mankind«, was releases on June 21st, 2019. The album entered the official German album charts on a fantastic #20.
While their debut album “For The Fallen” (2017) was heavy, depressing and marked by grief, the second work “The Silent Vigil” (2018) showed a relentlessly aggressive side. It was without question another great album, created by musicians who blindly understand their craft yet do not repeat themselves. This also applies to the third and latest string to their bow »Requiem For Mankind«.

To celebrate the release of the album, the band present a new lyric video for the title track
“Requiem For Mankind”. Check it out on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22cTn0u-WzQ
The band states:
“Lyrically it ties in with the burial as depicted on the artwork of the album itself. It could also be interpreted as a lament for the state of the world we are living in, we have left enough room in the lyrical content to draw your own conclusion! Musically it’s another headbanger ( we seem to have a lot of those on this album) with a nice heavy deep end rumble. It needed to be the title track! It has that old school feel, it’s organic, it’s out now and all you need to do is listen, absorb, and bang your head ! Enjoy.”

Congratulation Boys!!!
Just a year after the release of their second album »The Silent Vigil«, the band returns with an authentic, raw offering packed with old school death metal destruction. Once again, the groove is monstrous, the riffs are merciless, and the atmosphere is oppressive, paralyzing, even overwhelming. Willett’s aggressive vocals are rousing and relentless.

The war rages on! The third album from old school metal veterans MEMORIAM, »Requiem For Mankind«, was released last Friday.
Today, the band presents a very special video for new album track “The Veteran”.
The video was created by Daniel Dodd. Daniel was a soldier in the British Army, who came back from Iraq as a veteran in 2007. He is now a photographer, who uses his work to address the traumas he faced during, and since his deployment.
Daniel Dodd states:
“I joined the British Army as an Infantryman in January 2005 and served a 7 month tour of Iraq in 2006, returning home in May 2007. I was medically discharged with PTSD in late 2011 just 6 months prior to another deployment, this time to Afghanistan. Within twelve months of being back in the UK after my operational tour I was noticing considerable amounts of differences in my behaviour, from the amount of alcohol I would consume on a weekly basis to escape the replay of disturbing thoughts I would have, which would lead me to losing sleep and also resulting in an addiction to sleeping tablets, falling into severe depression. I became very aggressive and I was arrested multiple times for fighting both sober and under the influence, I had a thrist for confrontation at this point and I felt uncontrollable.
I suffered with survivors guilt after losing close friends to the enemy during my deployment, but as a result of my own physical injuries which I sustained whilst in a firefight, I believed I should have also been killed and felt that I was better off dead than I was alive, as I still could not escape the nightmares, the flashbacks, lack of sleep etc. So after a few years of being in and out of therapy and being on medication, I found that my escape was no longer alcohol or violence but walking, going on adventures alone with my camera and capturing memories that were positive and working on those rather than the ones I was battling against. In regards to making the self portraits that visually represent Psychosis and other mental health issues, I was a little reluctant to put myself back into that particular frame of mind for the sake of my work – especially as I had only encountered my first and hopefully my last episode of Psychosis last Christmas. It was still very raw with me but I took that opportunity to create the most honest photographs that I possibly could with how I was feeling at that time, and I felt that it was important for me to document those times and how I was seeing myself – as I document most things in my life now and use them to build a stronger and better relationship with not only myself, but everybody around me.
I think it is great that Memoriam are using the subject of veterans in their music and highlighting the issues that are very relevant in not only veterans who have served in wars post 2003, but prior to that. Also I couldn’t imagine anybody who has been in my position, similar or worse, not relating to even one of the matters that Memoriam have expressed in the song The Veteran. The music may not be to everybody’s taste but neither is War, and unfortunately there is truth to be told and found in both of those. I really enjoyed creating the video for The Veteran though and I found it to be a way of therapy for myself thankfully and I surprised myself, it’s the first time I have used my work in this way, so I am thankful for the opportunity given to me by a dear friend of mine Timm Sonnenschien. I would be interested in creating some more work of a similar nature in the future.”

“‘Undefeated’ – this track is a fist pumping anthem. It is a statement of strength and empowerment. We all go through life and experience hardship and pain, but it is how you come through it that counts. It’s a song that reflects how we feel about what we have achieved in our lives…I think that is something that everyone can relate to. The lyrics are about being true to yourself and through adversity retaining integrity and staying strong. Remaining undefeated.” – Karl Willetts

The band states:
“A new Memoriam song, a new approach, and as with all our albums a new sound for us to use.
“Shell Shock ” is the first track we recorded for the “Requiem For Mankind” album. It is a bit of a
Death Metal headbanger of a track! Subject wise it deals with the effects of being on the frontline
amongst all the noise and chaos of a horrific war situation from an individual standpoint, and also
that the soldier does not die from an enemy bullet!
Sound wise it needed to sound a bit epic, we think we have achieved this on “Shellshock” and
have used this as the blueprint sound throughout the album.”
