–KORPIKLAANI are currently hopping from festival stage to festival stage (next stop: MetalDays, Tolmin, SLO) in support of their current studio album »Kulkija« (“Wanderer”; released on September 7, 2018 through Nuclear Blast). Today, the group has unleashed another version of their much-loved hit ‘Beer Beer’, taken from the aforementioned album’s tour edition; this time in Croatian, entitled ‘Pivo Pivo’ and graced by a guest vocal appearance of former ELUVEITIE violinist Meri Tadic (IRIJ). With 14 tracks and a total running time of over 71 minutes, »Kulkija« is the group’s longest album to date. Working with producer Janne Saksa for the first time, the album was recorded at Petrax Studio (Hollola, FIN) and mixed at Sound Supreme Studios (Hämeenlinna, FIN). Mastering duties were handled by renowned engineer Svante Forsbäck (RAMMSTEIN etc.). The cover was designed by Jan Yrlund (BATTLE BEAST, MANOWAR etc.), who has already created several artworks for previous albums and singles for the band.

The »Beer Beer« CD includes 14 versions of KORPIKLAANI‘s iconic song ‘Beer Beer’, graced by the likes of Christopher Bowes (ALESTORM), Steve “Zetro” Souza (EXODUS), Andreas “Gerre” Geremia (TANKARD), Jesper Anastasiadis (TURISAS), TROLLFEST, HEIDEVOLK and many more of their friends’ bands and musicians.

Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI don’t seem to need any rest! After playing an extensive European tour with TURISAS and TROLLFEST in support of their latest studio album »Kulkija« (“Wanderer”), the band is about to kick off an 8-show Australian & New Zealand run (w/ TROLDHAUGEN) tomorrow. But before the sextet continues their current touring cycle with a North American co-headline tour with their label mates in ELUVEITIE in September/October, KORPIKLAANI will perform a string of European festival gigs. In anticipation of these upcoming summer dates – starting at Metalfest Open Air, Pilsen (CZ) on June 2nd – the band has unleashed a brand new lyric video for the Czech version of their all-time favorite ‘Beer Beer’, which can also be found on the tour edition of »Kulkija«. Not only did they prove this during the rehearsal at the Masters Of Rock Café in Zlín but also on the Masters Of Rock 2018 festival stage where we played with them after only one rehearsal of their song ‘Vodka’, our song ‘Vizovice’ and then – we believe we can say – our common song ‘Beer Beer (Bír Bír)’ with the Czech lyrics of our lyricist Jan Mrlík. Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI are currently touring Europe alongside TURISAS and TROLLFEST in support of their latest studio album »Kulkija«. To celebrate, the band released a special tour edition, which includes the »Beer Beer« CD, featuring 14 different versions of the eponymous track. Taken from this CD is also ‘Bier Bier’, sung by TANKARD’s Gerre, who even wrote the lyrics for the adaption. Gerre stated,

“I remember when we toured with KORPIKLAANI across Finland in 2009, where we had tons of fun! Last week, Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI released a tour edition of their latest studio album »Kulkija«. The included »Beer Beer« CD contains several versions of the eponymous track featuring TURISAS and TROLLFEST among others. Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI are about to kick off an extensive run of dates that will see them travelling across the globe throughout 2019. Kicking off with an 8-date Finnish tour on which they’ll be joined on stage by a brass section from Lahti Sinfonia and with support from WALTARI, TROLLFEST, and PROFANE OMEN, the band will then hit the road across Europe alongside TURISAS and TROLLFEST. To celebrate their epic trek, KORPIKLAANI has launched another track from their »Beer Beer« album, which will be included exclusively in the forthcoming »Kulkija [Tour Edition]«, out February 15, 2019 via Nuclear Blast. 2018 will go down in the history as an important year for KORPIKLAANI. The band celebrated its 15th anniversary, released their 10th album »Kulkija« and finally wrapped up the year with a successful North American tour in December. 2019 will be just as busy. The Finnish Folk Metal Superstars will start the year with an 8-date Finnish tour and will be joined on stage with a brass section from Lahti Sinfonia. With KORPIKLAANI attracting a wide and varied audience, it is especially nice that the tour includes also two all-ages shows at Nosturi in Helsinki and Finlandia Klubi in Lahti. The show in Helsinki will be opened by WALTARI and the Norwegian TROLLFEST, while all Finnish shows will also be supported by PROFANE OMEN who recently released their latest album »Ooka«. After the Finnish tour, KORPIKLAANI will continue their world wide »Kulkija« -tour with a month-long European run with TURISAS and TROLLFEST and in May, the band will once again head down to Australia and New Zealand. Just recently, Pyynikin Craft Brewery unveiled a tasty KORPIKLAANI lager and to celebrate this occasion, the band will release a special tour edition of their new album »Kulkija« (“Wanderer”), which doesn’t only include the regular songs, but also a bonus CD titled »Beer Beer«. This disk, only available in the physical package, includes 14 versions of KORPIKLAANI’s iconic song ‘Beer Beer’, graced by the likes of Christopher Bowes (ALESTORM), Steve “Zetro” Souza (EXODUS), Andreas “Gerre” Geremia (TANKARD), Jesper Anastasiadis (TURISAS), TROLLFEST, HEIDEVOLK and many more of their friends’ bands and musicians. The more ethereal band Jonne, led by the KORPIKLAANI lead vocalist Jonne Järvelä, will unveil a single trilogy started by the single ‘Kaiho’ that was released in November and also featured WALTARI vocalist Kärtsy Hatakka. The trilogy will be completed with the releases of ‘Tuhka’ in February and ‘Autere’ in March. Both of these songs will also feature vocalist Riikka Jaakkola, familiar from the series Voice Of Finland. Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI released their brand new studio album titled »Kulkija« (“Wanderer”) on September 7th, 2018 through Nuclear Blast Records. Just a few days before they embark on a North American headline tour with ARKONA (all dates can be found below), the band has launched another lyric video – once again created by Jan Yrlund – for a song taken from their latest offering. States frontman Jonne,

“For some reason while recording the first demo of this song I kept hearing it as a traditional tango. I haven’t been able to drop that thought and while playing this live I still hear the tango and drag behind the beat like Topi Sorsakoski. I wanted to leave a trace of that original form and therefore there is a bit of tango in the end of the song. So the tango is not a joke even if it may sound that way. Of course it is also possible that there is a tongue or even two in cheek, but that was the case with Sorsakoski too.”

In a certain way this is a nice and light song, but still also strong and even a little sad. Tuomas Keskimäki’s lyrics are in line with that. The basic message of the lyrics is the importance of living in the moment, which is also one the fine features of KORPIKLAANI. This band has always been able seize the moment and enjoy life right there and then.

“About ‘Kuin korpi nukkuva’ (“Like A Sleeping Forest”):

A wanderer dreams of an easy journey on an even road, with the girl of his dreams beside him. Returning home, he feels that he does not belong anywhere. The wanderer does not want to wake, as life is rife with fears and worries. At the end the dream the girl picks a dead flower, he wakes up, he realizes that he must live for today and not for tomorrow.

TURISAS – Announce »Wayfarers & Warriors Tour 2019« With Korpiklaani And Trollfest

TURISAS will embark on an extensive co-headline run across the continent with no less than their fellow countrymen Korpiklaani in February and March 2019. Opening support will come from Norwegian True Balkan Metallers Trollfest. The whole itinerary can be found below.

TURISAS comment on the tour: “It’ s been long since we’ve last toured Europe properly and couldn’t be more excited to get back on the stage and vent off some of the cabin fever built up by years of research and songwriting for a new album. – And what would be better than going out on a double-headline tour with our dear friends and countrymen Korpiklaani! It’s a really strong and diverse package you definitely shouldn’t miss. See you at the shows!“

Jonne from Korpiklaani, who release their new album “Kulkija” (= “Wanderer”) in September: “Kulkija has many stories about Wayfarers or Wanderers and it somehow fits so nicely with the good feeling theme on the album, to go on tour with people who we consider friends.
