EXODUS
DEATH ANGEL
2020 is set to be an unforgettable year for European thrash metalheads – three legendary pioneers of the genre have announced that they will be touring the continent throughout February and March next spring. Hitting the road will be no other than the Bay Area’s very own TESTAMENT, EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL – who have all teamed up to bring the catchily dubbed “The Bay Strikes Back” tour to European shores.
TESTAMENT’s Chuck Billy commented:
“It’s finally happening!!!! All of us have spoken over the years of how killer it would be to tour together and bring Bay Area Thrash Metal across the world and we are starting in Europe. I’m sure I can speak for all three bands in saying that we are proud of where we all came from and we are still delivering some of the best thrash metal we can to the fans. Be ready for the Bay Area Strikes Back Tour 2020.”
And Gary Holt from EXODUS:
“I am fired up to FINALLY return to Europe with EXODUS! Along with our Bay Area friends TESTAMENT and DEATH ANGEL! An epic tour for the ages! Looking forward to crushing everyone Bay Area style! See you there!!! I cannot wait!”
DEATH ANGEL’s Rob Cavestany added:
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our upcoming tour with TESTAMENT and EXODUS! Bay Area Thrash Attack in full force! All 3 bands have been close friends for decades and our mutual respect is of the highest level. That said, we will surely push each other to go beyond expectations each and every night. This is a first – the three of us have never toured together in the same package… it’s about time! See you in the pit!”
See all dates below.
Both, TESTAMENT and EXODUS are currently working on the follow-up to their 2016 (TESTAMENT – »Brotherhood Of The Snake«) and 2014 (EXODUS – »Blood In, Blood Out«) albums, while DEATH ANGEL will be touring in support of their most recent record, »Humanicide« (2019).

Opener ‘Humanicide’ starts with a guitar tandem intro in the vain of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest (The Hellion). This fast song has been out on YouTube for a while and should be known by now. ‘Divine Defector’ follows in the same aggressive fast tempo. ‘Aggressor’ has more variety and is a typical Death Angel track, jumping up and down and with Mark at his best. ‘I Came for Blood’ has a NWOBHM vibe, a kind of Saxon on high speed. Thrash returns with ‘Alive and Screaming’ and ‘Ghost of Me’ and with ‘Revelation Song’ a more progressive side of Death Angel appears again.
All in all, a typical high quality Death Angel album, which continues where The Evil Divide left us 3 years ago. Every die-hard thrash fan should purchase this as soon as possible.

DEATH ANGEL

“When I wrote “The Pack” I was channeling the vibe we exchange with our fans when we’re having a killer show and the crowd is rocking so hard to the music that in that moment we are united as one intense exploding vortex of positive energy! This song is an uplifting dose of metal with a message of hope and unity, an anthem of strength in loyalty. It’s a balancing factor on the Humanicide album which is also filled with so much darkness. It’s dedicated to our fans, all metal and music fans in fact. I absolutely cannot wait to play this song live, especially this summer at open air festivals in Europe. Feels like a song that calls for crowd participation!
It’s a fun song to play because of it’s heavy rhythmic percussive attack. I get to play drums on my guitar! Challenging too, as the background vocals happen in spots where it goes against the grain of what the guitars are doing… also the guitar solo section is quite melodic and takes you into a different dimension before returning to the pulsing heartbeat fist pumping stomp.
This song is raw, no nonsense good time fun. It’s refreshing amongst the dark complexity on the other side of the Death Angel sound.” – Rob Cavestany

DEATH ANGEL
– second single & lyric video released
California thrash metal legends DEATH ANGEL have unleashed a snarling new song today called “The Pack” from the band’s long-awaited 9th full-length album, Humanicide, that’s due out May 31st from Nuclear Blast Records. Watch the lyric video for the track below.
WATCH THE LYRIC VIDEO FOR “THE PACK”: https://youtu.be/p4dTl9CI3uU
“’The Pack’ is inspired by and dedicated to our fans! When I wrote this song, we had just come home from tour and I was still feeling the rush of performing at open air festivals. The energy exchange between us on stage and the mass of metal heads in the crowd is unlike any other. I wanted to capture it in a song about unity, like our song “Kill As One.”
Our fan club is called “The Pack,” our fans get it! But it’s not only for them, it also branches out to represent our families, friends, team, crew… and all metal heads! We feel honored to belong to this worldwide “pack.” This song requires crowd participation, we are SO looking forward to playing it live!”

With their forthcoming album »Humanicide«, DEATH ANGEL has maintained their throne in the universe of Thrash while still managing to remain progressive in their style. They apply a wide variety of different elements to their music, always pushing to add newness to their sound. This time around they’ve included everything from acoustic bits, to guest musicians, to even (for the first time) the notes of a piano. All 10 songs flow seamlessly yet each leaves its own distinct impression. The first single and title track ‘Humanicide’ triumphantly represents the entirety of the album, immediately energizing the listener.
For the 4th album cycle in a row, DEATH ANGEL returned to their producer and friend Jason Suecof (DEICIDE, TRIVIUM) of Audiohammer studios for the recording and mixing, along with the mastering of the legendary Ted Jensen (SLIPKNOT, PANTERA) of Sterling Sound who added the final touches and brought it all to life, with artist Brent Elliott White (LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH) providing the ominous cover artwork.

2019 is officially STRIKER’s ‘Summer of Shred’ as they will hitting the road this summer for multiple North American tour dates with DEATH ANGEL, STEEL PANTHER, HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER. Their shredding adventures will begin in Oklahoma City, OK on May 14th for US dates with DEATH ANGEL followed by a headlining show for Calgary’s East Town Get Down Festival that includes Anvil. STRIKER will then support STEEL PANTHER for their Canadian dates from June 14th to June 25th and then kick off a short headlining tour from July 2nd to July 7th before joining HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’, which will invade 21 cities in USA and Canada from from July 12th to August 4th. STRIKER is touring in support of their sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.
Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER’s sixth studio album “Play To Win” features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.
Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:
“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”
