Symphonic black/death horde’s acclaimed new album ‘Embrace Of The Godless Aeon’ out now
With “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon,” their first record in five years, proving to be one of the best-reviewed extreme metal releases of the year to date, the UK-based symphonic blackened death metal group HECATE ENTHRONED have unveiled a lyric video for the album track “Erebus and Terror,” which features guest vocals by Sarah Jezebel Deva (Cradle of Filth, Therion, Mortiis).
Watch it here – https://youtu.be/m8WSg5pcr5I
While “Embrace…” proves definitively that HECATE ENTHRONED is still as brutal and scornful as ever, the album also shows occasional hints of gothic and ambient influences, and “Erebus and Terror” is a prime example. Says bassist Dylan Hughes, “On an album full of epic tracks, ‘Erebus and Terror’ still stands out as a monster. Massive and powerful, it creeps between eerie dark chills and huge powerhouse sections that utilize the full armory of soaring orchestras and crushing guitars to deliver a skillfully-crafted song. With the incredible vocal talents of Sarah Jezebel Deva, this track is lifted to another level of emotion and feeling, as she delivered a performance that matches the intensity of the music. To have Sarah with us gives our music and writing another dimension – a real organic element that can lift or carry a song through the emotion ranges.”Adds vocalist Joe Stamps, “’Erebus and Terrror’ is about the ill-fated Franklin Expedition, in which the sailors who were stranded in the Northwest Passage were reported to have begun to cannibalize one another. The lyrics describe a loss of humanity through sickness and desperation and even compares these to lycanthropy – men becoming beasts.”
“Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” – which features cover artwork by Nestor Avalos (Bloodbath, Rotting Christ, The Black Dahlia Murder), as seen above – is out now on CD, digital and red splatter vinyl. A limited-edition deluxe box set that features exclusive purple vinyl and cassette editions of the album, a signed photo card, stickers, patches and other collectibles is also available direct from our webstore www.m-theoryadio.com/store or www.plastichead.com.
One of the UK underground’s longest-running and most respected acts, HECATE ENTHRONED has been praised by the likes of Terrorizer for their “mixture of death metal aggression with black metal atmosphere.” “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” – their first recording with Stamps, who joined the band in 2015 – sees the group continue to deftly mix black with death, modern with classic and extreme with symphonic. The album was co-produced by Dan Abela (Voices, The Antichrist Imperium, Tristania).
Originally co-founded in Wales by guitarist Nigel Dennen in the mid-1990s, HECATE ENTHRONED is dedicated to delivering their own brand of evil metal with little regard to politics or the trends of popular demand. The group’s 1997 full-length debut, the Andy Sneap-produced “The Slaughter Of Innocence, A Requiem For The Mighty” (Blackend Records), was a seminal release in the then-burgeoning orchestral black metal movement. Since then, several albums and EPs and numerous live performances have firmly established the band as one of extreme metal’s most important voices, a sentiment that “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” firmly reinforces.
HECATE ENTHRONED’s next live performance will take place on April 20 at the Veneration Of The Dead festival in Rotterdam, Holland.

]]>Cradle Of Filth Member Lindsay Schoolcraft Announces First Ever Australian Solo Tour
Cradle of Filth keyboardist and female vocalist LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT is embarking on her first ever solo tour, and has chosen the far-flung and haunted shores of Australia for a round of DJ sets in Sydney, Perth and a world-first solo headline show in Melbourne.
Brought to you by INCURSION ALTERNATIVE PARTIES and OVERDRIVE TOURING, Schoolcraft’s tour will hit Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, beginning with a very special New Year’s Eve performance! Next she hits Melbourne for a show at the renowned Evelyn Hotel, before finally making her way West to throw down with her Perth fans.
Best known for her beguiling keyboard and vocal performances with Cradle of Filth, taking on classics such as Nymphetamine and Her Ghost in the Fog live, as well as performing on latest studio albums ‘Hammer of the Witches’ and ‘Cryptoriana: The Seductiveness of Decay,’ Schoolcraft breaks away from the Filthy mould (and spores, mildew and fungus) to perform her own decadent works. With deft hands flying as gracefully over her electric harp as her keys, Lindsay Schoolcraft brings a sonic spectacle of Gothic rock, Nu Metal and subtle electronics not to be missed.
This is a rare opportunity for Australian fans to be among the first to witness such a momentous event! Schoolcraft’s new band, featuring former Evanescence drummer ROCKY GRAY, are ready to tour with their debut EP ‘Martyr’ to be released very soon.
After a rousing reception for Cradle of Filth in May, Schoolcraft and her band will be expecting a very warm welcome Down Under!

Unleashing their new EP entitled “Downfall” this past May, whiplash tyrants FALLEN LEGION have teamed up with New Noise Magazine for the premiere of their new lyric video “New Skin” ft. guest vocals from Cradle of Filth’s Lindsay Schoolcraft, which can be viewed at the following link: https://newnoisemagazine.com/fallen-legion-new-skin-lyric-video/
“Downfall” features six energetic, unorthodox, progressive, spirited and memorable tracks plus guest vocals and keyboard from Cradle of Filth’s Lindsay Schoolcraft on “New Skin”. The EP follows FALLEN LEGION’s two well-received demo EPs “Screams From The Dungeon” (2012) and “Infinite Archive” (2015). Consisting of Nick Sauter on guitars, Jon Kal on bass, Josh Masterson on vocals and Dylan Waybrant on drums, the band presents an eclectic metal brigade of influences from Gojira, Korn, Iron Maiden, Dethlok and Antonio Vivaldi.
The band comments:
“This EP is about dealing with stress- mortal blows, drugs, thoughts of suicide, the inner struggle, and the wrath of it all. The EP represents the outcome of painful experiences. Songs like ‘Escapegoat’ deal with not being able to handle the consequences of one’s actions and pushing them onto those weaker than yourself, and ‘Monster Reborn’-about letting the guilt build up inside, trapping one within their own mental anguish.”
“Downfall” is available on FALLEN LEGION’s official website here, iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and Spotify.

]]>Since 1991, Dani Filth has held high the banner of the Cradle Of Filth sound (well, as high as a man who measures 1,65 metres is able to), the last remaining member of the band who recorded the debut album, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. Four million albums sold later, with countless line-up changes behind them, having survived several commercial and artistic ups and downs, COF are now back with their new studio album.
After a couple of less inspired releases, a distinct hunger for blood reappeared with 2015’s Hammer of The Witches, and it would seem that Dani and his ghoulish crew have retained that state of hunger for this new silver disc.
To sum it up, the dials has been turned towards both more brutality and melody, and other than that, Cradle Of Filth simply sound like Cradle Of Filth, which is a good thing.
As always, Dani is prone to vast creativity in terms of his use of the English language, exploring Victorian gothicism, dark romanticism, as well as the ever-present element of twisted eroticism. Sweetness and evil brutality go hand in hand as usual, as a multitude of riffs unravel before the listener’s ears. The versatility is in no way lost. Dani’s screams are no less haunting, and he is complimented brilliantly by Lindsay Schoolcraft.
Are there any instant hit songs like ‘Her Ghost In The Fog’ or ‘Nymphetamine’ on Cryptoriana? No, not really – even if Liv Kristine is again lending her vocal to a tune (‘Vengeful Spirit’). It took me a few spins to realize that this is in fact a brilliant album that keeps revealing splendid details and riffs you didn’t notice before. It’s all in the detail, and there are many of those details – in true Cradle Of Filth fashion.
Excellent piece of dark art. It’s heavy f*ckin’ metal, that’s what it is.
