When Abbath announced that he had left IMMORTAL, it sent massive shockwaves through the metal scene. The iconic frontman had long become the “face” of the Norwegian black scene, his image synonymous with the genre. Upon releasing his debut album with his eponymous new band, ABBATH, in 2016, trve fans were satiated with a dose of icy, blackened fury.
Now, the Norwegian giant returns for round two, armed with a refined lineup and ready to strike with a sophomore effort that is sure to once again exceed the expectations of Abbath’s loyal fanbase. ‘Outstrider’ sees a maturation in sound, delivering a tighter, well-rounded offering from the band as they come into their own identity.
While there are moments that certainly channel the frosty hallmarks of IMMORTAL, there is no danger of ABBATH repeating that formula. ABBATH draws from NWOBM and melodic influences, adding a fresh new flavor to the sound that the band’s founder came to define.
‘Oustrider’ consists of eight, crushing original songs and concludes with a fiery BATHORY cover. The album promises a full-on aural assault from start to finish with frigid riffage and a robust pocket that are layered with vocals from one of the most identifiable voices in black metal. If you thought ABBATH came in hot with their last record, just wait until you hear this!

]]>Finnish atmospheric avant-garde black metal band Wyrmwoods released their second album “Spirit & Teeth” via Inverse Records.
The band’s sole member Nuurag-Vaarn comments:
“The new album “Spirit & Teeth” is more experimental and avant-garde than the previous album, even though the production is a bit more lo-fi and Black Metal. Most of the synths have been replaced with an electric piano and with it there’s slightly more jazz influences to be heard.
Of course Black Metal’s still the main thing and there’s also some more straightforward Black Metal parts, like the start of the titular song, which then evolves into something else, with Darkspace and even Swans influences.”

]]>The last acts have now been added to this year’s COPENHELL poster
TRIVIUM, TESSERACT, UADA, VLTIMAS and CABAL will deliver a fistful of quality metal in a hard punch in the face, rounding off this year’s line-up with a handful of really heavy metal bands playing everything from progressive djent to old school death metal.
Through the last two decades, TRIVIUM has reached for the stars with their hyper-efficient and popular metalcore.
The band visited COPENHELL in 2012 and again in 2016, where they laid waste to the audience with their catchy headbanger metal and infectious performance.
We look forward to meeting the heavy boys from Florida yet again for another musical tour de force!
The British band TESSERACT plays progressive metal and is one of the pioneers of the popular djent sub-genre.
Their music is a tornado of advanced rhythmical and melodic techniques carried by Daniel Tompkins’ formidable, explosive voice.
Here is a band that is not afraid of experimenting with genres and reinvent themselves constantly, and the COPENHELL audience can expect a concert full of musical surprises.
UADA appeared like a bolt from the blue with their convincing debut album ”Devoid of Light” in 2016.
The quartet quickly established themselves as one of this decade’s most important new black metal bands, and they have darkened the skies ever since with their pitch-black, melodic approach to the genre.
With a running start and lots of evolution in their sound already, they are ready to throw one hell of a party for all the black metal enthusiasts!
When you use the term ”super group”, you have to make sure that it is a fitting term – and that is indeef the case with VLTIMAS!
A brutal trio consisting of David Vincent from legendary Morbid Angel, Cryptosy drummer Flo Mounier and Mayhem guitarist Rune Eriksen have created an entirely new metal symbiosis with this incredibly heavy music project.
All fans of classic death metal can start looking forward to this experience!
The Danish band CABAL is this year’s ”Tak Rock!” band at COPENHELL.
Their sinister sound lands somewhere between blackened deathcore and hardcore with massive breakdown, spitting and raging vocals and a thick, permeating atmosphere of pure evil. This young band is already playing in the big leagues and showing huge potential.
Purchase tickets, read much more about the festival and all of the bands at Copenhell.dk or in our official COPENHELL app – and follow us at Facebook, Spotify and Instagram.
]]>Tryglav, black metal from Croatia has released a new single “Night of Whispering Souls” off the debut album of the same name, which will be unveiled May 31, 2019 via Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records. The solo act comes from the dark mind of Boris Behara, who was looking to express his vision in his own way and have full control over the music.
Tryglav is a god in Slavic mythology that represents the sky, the earth and the afterlife. Channeling this power since 2018, Behara creates melodic, aggressive classic black metal with 80’s horror imaginary that is suitable for all fans of the genre looking for something fresh to bang their heads to.
The new album is the perfect combination of velocity and melody, some tracks are fast and brutal but still catchy and others are melodic with catchy chorus that are easy to pick up during the first listen.
The single is Behara’s favorite song off the album and a perfect introduction to his vision.
“This is my favourite song off the album and it’s the song that I took the name of the album from. This song was so different at the beginning. I think that when I started to play drums to find some good patterns this song changed 3 or 4 times. It’s fast and melodic but also has some slowed down moments and a nice chorus. I really like the final part… pure headbanging!”
The first single “Night Of Whispering Souls” can be heard at the following link: https://youtu.be/3otu1Sbclgs

Tryglav is a Croatian one man band band formed in 2018 by Boris Behara.
Tired of playing with people who didn’t have his same vision in music, at the beginning of 2018, he started with the idea to create his own band inspired by his love in black metal and horror imaginary. During the year 2018, seven songs have been composed and re-arranged in his personal studio many times before the final versions come out.
Due the poor equipment for vocal recording, vocals had been entrusted to a singer called Morbid according to Behara’s lyrics and patterns. For the live shows and future records, vocals will be recorded by Behara. The idea for the plague doctors came out one day, when he thought how to create an impact imagine for the live shows.
In the year 2019 the album has been finished and the search for a studio for mixing and mastering had started. After many considerations, the studio was chosen, and the album was sent to Emissary Studios in Australia.
The album was sent then to some labels and after many considerations, Tryglav signed a worldwide deal with Italian label Extreme Metal Music/Rockshots Records.

]]>The black metal act Beorn’s Hall releasing their new album ‘In His Granite Realm’ this Friday, March 15 via Naturmacht Productions.
“Our third album, ‘In His Granite Realm’ continues the same path of progression we left off at on ‘Estuary’. We double downed on the doom and death metal influence introduced on that album although the core sound still remains very much late 80’s/early 90’s black metal.
Over the summer we lost a very close friend and founding member of the band to a tragic accident.
Dealing with his untimely death gave the music more of an underlying feeling of darkness and sorrow. We hope you will enjoy this album.” – – Rognvaldr & Vulcan December 2018.
